Drones Vs. Shields

Simple Question: Do drones ignore shields?

To quote the book, it states:

"With the damage spread around the entire target ship, no rolls are made to see if the weapon penetrates shields"

This infers that drones ignore shields - Is this correct as I have a very annoyed Fed Admiral who has just lost a BCJ to my C7 drone racks! :D

Drones are a auto hit weapon so you do not roll to hit. Because of this drones will never cause a burn through.

Procedure is easy after defensive fire is resolved if the drone is still alive it hits the target and rolls a D6. Apply that number of hits to shield. If the shield has less boxes than hits the drone generates apply the extras damage rolls on the Attack Table to see what you hit. If the shield was already. down roll all hits on the Attack Tabled.

Oh, I'm pretty miffed ok but not at Digger  The wording of the seeking trait just seems unclear. I assume the intent is that because you don' t roll AD then there is no chance of getting a 6 and ignoring the shields. This is not implicitly stated, however.

As with Plasma's, as there seeking weapons and don't require a 'to hit' roll, Drone are effected by shields but don't get to take advantage of the 'Leaks though on a 6' roll, which weapons that roll 'to hit' get.

So, yes, shields do count.
