Drazi Green and Purple Crew Duty

The Text on this is a little vague. After the fighting is resolved they get a +2 bonus to initiative, is this bonus their new racial initiative bonus or is this added to their existing one.

For example would the Drazi initiative become:
1) +2 irregardless if they are attacker or defender or
2) +3/+4 depending on whether or not they are defender or attacker

We interpreted the -4 and +2 as modifiers, not replacements, so they would go from -3/-2 to +3/+4.
