Drazi / Brakiri Occupation

Da Boss

Mongoose
I am writing the next part of Darkness Rising and i was hoping to pick some B5 fans brains:

I am trying to decide how the Drazi in paticular (and to a lesser extent the Brakiri) would deal with the population of an occupied world they have conquuered (in this case Narn)

My initial thought is that the Drazi would be mostly disintrersted in the population/ or interfering with their society, except perhaps ensuring that resoruces/materials/ships etc are privided to the occupiers but would react farily violently to any disruptions or resistance?

the Brakiri I am thinking a very Corporate style with induentured workers (slaves in all but name) and a dispassionate view of the occupied - work them hard, but feed them well and give them incenetatives?

anyone have any thoughts?

thanks

Writing quickly since I'm at work...

I'm not very well versed in all the extra material for any of the races. My only knowledge comed from what's presented on screen with no deeper analysis on my part.

I have been watching the series over again and just caught an episode in Season 5 which might help you. The Drazi officially prided themselves on never harming or interfering with lesser races. It turned out that while that was their mantra, they had been supplying raiders to harrass an under-developed world for over a decade. The drazi gave them supplies and weapons while taking a percentage of the valuable resources from the raiders.

If you need, I'll get the episode title and number for you tonight.

I think that all this depends on which race is being occupied - for example if the Drazi were occupying a Narn world they would try to deal honourably with their fellow warriors. If they were occupying a Centauri world however I think they would treat such epicures more harshly due to their distace for the race as a whole, and when dealing with the Dilgar they would not have given them a chance to surrender or be captured. In general I agree that they would be merciless if resisted but fair if anchallenged.

The Brakiri I would think could be more insidious, having the occupied race police themselves in exchange for incentives for the government in power such as limited autonomy. I think they would make any actions they took look legal and fair while systematically draining the planet in question of any useful resources, but I don't think that they would take slaves? Maybe as you said they could be slaves in all but name, but rewarded for large production rates with more rations and lenience?
