Drakh Fleets

I've been toying w/ buying a Drakh starter fleet after I get my Centauri painted up...are they worth the effort???

Well yes and no....

The Drakh Fleet boxset is the only thing really 'worth' buying as there is so little detail on the models. This will give you a nice sized fleet to use in the odd game (with some scouts added).

All in all though the models are of mediocre standard IMO. Wait a while for 2E, maybe the modelers will suprise us!

The rules are okay, it feels as though the raiders are a little too good though (cut them down to 1 beam each but increase the number of Huge Hangers!)

Cheers,

RayB

Will the 2e incorporate the Drakh book, or will I still need to purchase that book if I want to build a fleet?? Thanks again

The drakh fleet box was basically discontinued because of the lack of a mothership model, as they are rebuilding/resculpting the mold. You may see a pretty drastic improvement in the new sculpts.

The second ed fleet book will have all the playable races included, dilgar, drakh, everything is what we have been told.

i play a drakh fleet and like them a lot, you need to learn some different tactics to get in a bit closer, and the geg scores help with fighters and weapons with low attack dice, my mothership looks like a backend of an elephant but that will change with 2e, all in all cool fleet

a skirmish ship with only one weapon, and you want to castrate it's beam?! you big ole meany!

Drakh are a bit of a finesse fleet, you need to think about how you use them, and take time maneuvreing at the expense of firing if needbe.
the new mothership looks nice (only seen the wireframe though) and the raiders look pretty cool. the rest of the ships lack detail, but painted up well, they look ok.

Whoa, I'm just saying that the Mothership (or carrier) should carry more of them, but at the same time make them half as good! :)

Hiff is right -- the transforamtion to 1 die of beam, a cut in 50% in value, is massively overblown.

I've been logging my tourney games from the Drakh, and I've won all 3 so far. I'll calculate how much damage has been suffered vs. GEGed, and can make a reasonable statement about how useful a GEG is when used well (I only say this as I have won the matches, if I used it wrong, I'd probably have lost....).

Yup, matt e-mailed it me. I'm surprised it hasn't appeared anywhere else, and while he didn't specifically say "don't show anyone" I probably shouldn't be posting it anywhere!

the carrier appeared in planet mongoose, haven't seen the mo-ship anywhere except my imaging software

Of course, if I had managed to swap out more weapons on my Pak ships for more dice of the anti-fighter guns of death........
