Doubling up crew positions

I would swore I read somewhere the impact of not having enough people as crew. But tonight I could just find the vague statement that it could impact things like combat. And I remembering it wrong or is there specific game mechanic impacts to not having enough Engineers for example or the pilot and the captain being the same person?

I appreciate your help. :D

The text on p20 of HG is all I have seen.

It is implied, but not stated, that some actions are limited to one per round for each person.

Realistically if you are captain/pilot and you are dodging attacks you do not have much time to tell everyone else what to do. So everyone else would fight their own battles with little coordination.

Engineers control the drives and do damage control, at a guess one action per engineer.

Outside of combat there are no specified mechanics.

The Space Combat section in the 2e Core Book gives a rundown on each crew position with a note saying crew can move between duties each round; you lose a round getting to the new position most likely actually moving to that part of the ship. A captain/pilot could Improve Initiative for a turn but can not normally perform pilot actions.

HOWEVER, Skills and Tasks - Multiple tasks also states a character can perform more than one task but for every extra task, the Difficulty of all tasks is one level higher.

Captain/pilot/gunner might be less of an issue if you have affixed a weapon on a firmpoint, since you point the nose of your ship towards the the target.
