Does Launch Solution and Fire Control stack?

Chas

Everything I've seen so far in Traveller has different effects stacking. Do Launch Solution and Fire Control software effects stack?

No, the ship makes no attack roll when launching missiles, so no Fire Control.

Rereading the missile rules that is probably not very clear...

Are firmpoint, fighter, missiles and torps standard, or modified versions with limited range - I've gone and got myself confused now with the back and forth :D I thought these were standard, but if so we really ought to note the exception in the firmpoint weapon description blurb.

There are no special missiles, so must be standard.

I think they can fire at longer ranges, but that is a guess. (Based on what Nerhesi says, not the rules.)

I'm sure they are, I was just getting myself mixed up and wanted another opinion before I post my torpedo bombers...

? actually rereading the rules missiles do make a gunner roll on launch : see core rule book pg161

I can't find any launch roll on p161.
Only this on p162:
"When a missile salvo reaches its target, the missile makes an attack roll as normal. However, the Gunner skill of the Traveller(s) that fired the salvo is not used as a DM."

Also, Page 104 of the Corerulebook, last paragraph under "Using Computers", very last few words and the example provided:

"(DMs from software do not stack)."

This was also done to avoid FireControl and Advanced FireControl stacking.

If you've ever played other games this is similar to that "bonuses from the same source type don't stack" - at least for software.

Oh, I had missed that one...

An important rule snuck into a parenthesised explanation to an example, ouch.
