Do I have Suppression correct?

Is it correct that you count all dice fired at a target in one shoot action as for suppression regardless of whether they roll the targets target or kill number?

If that's the case, then what use is splitting an EFTF Section into fire teams? It's very easy to suppress them.

And also, is it correct that dice that rolled a "1" are not counted?

Thanks.

To split or not to split, that is the question. Personally I like large, dispersed squads. The USMC, for instance, can have a 24" frontage, although 12" is more realistic. Of course this is only when making an advance in the open. Normally you would advance in cover.

Having them to spread out can cause problems as the comand is the middle and fairly easily taken out, which can cause chaos....

Personal preference init?

Splitting the squad in to small fireteams helps them take advantage of sparser cover.

If you have large terrain pieces keep them together....

There is also another advantage to split units into fire teams. If you deploy fire teams such that two (Team A and Team B) are mingled, such as:

A B A B A B A B

A single shoot actions must then allocate dice to multiple units. You get some of the advantages of having two separate units and it becomes harder to suppress any one in a single shoot action until they start taking casualties.

Just becareful about loosing command figures... each unit only has to have 4 hits allocated to it to be suppressed, or 8 across the board would do it normaly, I don't think you are actually gaining any benefits from this.

I'm thinking, but no, I can't see any advantage against suppression or OOC by spliiting your units but then keeping them together.

Actually there is one advantage, if you take out one team eader but not ythe other then only half of your figs wioll be out of command, it's similar to ACTA and splitting (or not) your fire over multiple stealthy targets.
Less all or nothing, but it evens out over all.
