Diverting Power From Jumps Engines

Who knows how 'intelligent' the poor tormented soul who's been plugged into that ship is really feeling? Perhaps they're more atavistic and just attack the nearest thing they see, rather than making sound tactical judgements.

Also, would you run head on at a ship you knew contained people who could fry your brains? :)

true - but the White Star had a telepath too and was the one that had jammed / killed one ship already - I think it was just the plot requirements .......... :D
Killing the Minbarir Cruiser would have made it 4 vs 1 - at least until the reinforcements arrived - especially that narn cruiser with AJP - firing as it came out of hypersapce I think?
:?:
Of course it would also have killed half the cast! :D

I think they had always seemed very precise and calculated with their attacks and targeting -

Ok so maybe it was having a bad day, or was in a bad mood or wanted to kill the Vorlon tech ship rather than the big Minbari Cruiser as it was a new thing!

It was clearly a G'Quan that had spent XP dice on a re-fit and rolled a 1-1, upgrading to AJP

Yeah most of the surviving Narn ships must've had loads of XP, after the Centauri war!

Ok lets saddle the Horse from the other side.

one reactor ok
this reactor gives energy for almost all ship systems ok
but when i pull the plug for the Hyperdrive and use this energy for the weapon system what has this to do with the Normal engines? as long you don´t blow the Fuse it shoud make for the normal flightsystems no change.

Or does youre Tv set shut down when you switch of the light in the kittchen and turn it on in the livingroom?

If you aren't living with mains electricity but off a generator and swap lights with kettle or something else that uses a whack of juice then yes it can.

Personally I think this SA fits into the catagory of nice idea, but don't think its going to work in the game. It would favour some ships (and fleets) far more than others which would make it unfair. Too be able to work it would need a far more complicated system and thats not really what ACTA is about...

the other Problem is number of dices what shoud then ad to the weapons.
One is shouting then not enougth the other to mutch. It some thing for an RPG but not for a Table top.

why would the ship lose speed? the jump engines dont power the ordinary engines.

wouldn't it be better to bring in a rule saying a ship powering up jump engines loses a few AD or something? So you assume the jump engines are off unless you cjose to power them up. Seems a much fairer and less complicated way of doing it to me.

Maybe the future suffers from a lack of electricians? All killed by the shadows in the first great war while they were killing telepaths?

The not being able to fire when you Initiate Jump Point seems to cover that bit already. Also, a Jump Engine needs three turns to recharge before you can use it again, so if it is switched off at any point there is no real chance of a quick get-away if things go pear shaped.

so that way you would have to make a decision of whether to get a few extra AD and run the risk of not getting away in time.
Probably just best to not bother with new jump engines on/off special action anyway

I thought that was mentioned as changing in the preview article, Jump Engines are going to be a one shot per battle thing now, aren't they?

LBH

but that wont change much for fleets with numerous ships with AJP, as one ship can open a jump point to enter the game, another to open one to leave, and otheres just in case one gets destroyed or cant all exit through the same jump point.
