Dilgar tactics!

I managed to win a second time last sunday. This time we went for a raid level battle, much more enjoyable and close fought. I used a tikrit and the earthlings seemed to think it was too good for it's priority. The earthlings had an orestes and it took my whole fleet to batter it into a wreck, 6 armour is great. So is the tikrit broken? or are the earthlings screaming rape when they lose?

I would say that they're just screaming...

talking about little good ships...jashakars are good imho both as scouts and as torpedo versions...firsty not many races have patrol scouts and the torpedoes are good =)

Swarms are damn good... and even all round power fleets often can't deal with them.

Dilgar are an either/or fleet... pick slow or fast, both are quite good even if slow suffers vs long range bombardment fleets initially (fighters to intercept duty).

Vree with lots of sinks are devastating as they can find that 'perfect spot' so much more often.

There is a few things I´ve noticed that u need to do against Vree;

win the initiative, they have +0, dilgar got +2 so it should be done.

use atleast 2 scouts to re-roll, u want to make your chances count, and they usually do as te Vree are a bit weak on smaller levels(I do hate there battle lvl ship, mof is good!).

U should be able to kill off his initiative sinks on the first turn as you should have picked alot of anti-ship missiles. This will help you alot in the future as u can start moving in on the biggest ship to kill it off with your rain of bolters(use Targraths/Omelos, if you don´t have a Tikrit on the table ;)

Ouh, and if you use the "real rule"(looser deploys the hole fleet), when setting up the fleets, then the things mentioned should be much easier to do.

Comments?

AND MERRY CHRISTMAS :!:

You really think you can kill of the stack of sinks he'll bring in a turn?

A single Xaar requires on average 12 anti ship missile shots to kill. Half miss the hull and a third of the remainder get dodged...so 12/6/4 = dead Xaar. Assuming he just takes a full raid point of the blighted things, that's 48 anti-ship missiles That's assuming you have clear shots, he's got no interceptors fighters up and he hasn't bought out the xeel manufacturer and just fighter beat you. (Okay in that case he should buy a couple escort stealth scouts.... is that really an escort STEALTH scout.... jeebers...does it have tweezers in the the handle too?)

enough to keep a ship or two in my front arc...all I need =)

In my last game against the vree(we used figures we got), it was a 5 point raid, I used the following:

1x Garasoch (took a risk if he would have played carriers it would have been harder)
1x Tikrit
1x Targrath
1x Ochlavita command
2x Jashakar scout

I destroyed a Xaak, and almost destroyed a Xill with a pentagon of the Och, Ti, Ta and Ja in the first turn

I did not go after the sinks he used but I am fairly curtain that I would have managed to kill em, as I overkilled the Xaak with -14 or something

In addition my fighters took away the procentage of fire they should have from my pentagon. With his little Xaars he moved so far away in the beginning he could only shoot with one of em.

In turn to it was all over as I got my last fighters on the table from the garasoch, tikrit and targrath. I overwelmed the little patrol boats and could have easily killed the rest of his ships with them too

I admit he did only use two patrol boats, cause as I said we only played with what we had but I also had only to jashakars and had to use both to scout.

...he had more ships then me
