Speaking of abominable dice, here's a thought experiment about how a wider selection of dice might work for skills over 100%.
Two people enter combat, person A has a close-combat skill of 80%, person B has 112% in close-combat. Instead of doing the math reducing both skills by 12% (or however it works, I can't remember off hand), why not have both people roll d120 (d12 + d10)?
Here's where the abominations come in, certain die manufacturers also make d14s, d16s, etc. So, years later, person A has made a few improvement rolls and now has C-C skill of 130% vs person B's 112%. Now they could both roll d140 (d14 + d10).
I don't know much about probabilities or what not, but would this work?
