hi all when a ship deploys its fighters will they be classed as escorting there parent ship ie an omega drops 1 starfury flight in the movement phase as they have just been dropped they cannot do anything this turn the enemy in the same turn sends in a fighter or a group of fighters to attack the omega will the starfury be classed as escorting the omega so can intercept the enemy flights or can the enemy fighter/s ignore the starfury ?

I see you're not a fan of punctuation
Fighters cannot do anything on the Turn they're deployed, that includes taking up a Supporting position. So, the short answer is, no.

Well almost nothing. The only 'action' fighters can EVER do on the turn they are launched is to dogfight if the enemy engages them.

Fair point, they can also Dodge if someone shoots at them. But they can only respond to the actions of others.

No worries,

Fighters can only be on escort by moving on to the base of the ship they wish to escort any turn after the one they deploy on, or by moving onto the table through a jump point while escorting the ship coming through from hyperspace.

er...if they can be in escort in hyperspace cannot they also start in escort when they are first placed on the table? Just trying to be complete in the options.

Placed in escort in initial deploy.

Placed in escort in initial deploy from hyper.

Move onto base in the turn following deploy during play.

* or moved onto base while transiting independantly from hyper....I think.

I'm just saying how it can be done, it's the way it's played in every Mongoose tourney I've been to.

You have a reasonable line of argument though.
