Classic Traveller has come in different shapes and sizes. I was wondering if there are plans to redo the Main Rulebook in light of all the criticisms that have come as late. Or once Books 1-7 along with the Alien books are complete to have a Traveller Ultimate Edition be printed.

Personally, I see the Pocket book as pretty much the equivalent of RuneQuest Deluxe. I know the dimensions are different, but I actually think that it could address the issues of style (and cost in the US) pretty well, whilst also giving them a chance to fix typos, etc, too. The could probably address the criticism of interior art by simply not having any!

The Traveller core rules don't need to be bigger to be better, and indeed it would be nice to see a new lbb on the shelves. Or more particularly, in my pocket. :wink:

You could probably print it all from pdf, and store it in ring-binders.

Nothing wrong with a thousand page rulebook for a milieu that has 1100 worlds as the core empire... :lol:

Seriously, however, just a distilled essence from all the books is what I would be after. If new skills were added that augment Chargen or subclasses that were really popular they could be thrown into the Deluxe edition. Basic Worldgen from Scouts. Sample Robots. Alien templates. Fluff from Third Imperium sector books. Needs only to be about 500 pages hence the Deluxe title that people still feel they got value/detail for buying the original books (which form a type of playtest) for the Deluxe edition...naturally all this is 2-4 years down the line.

But, for instance, when did you know that you had revise Conan? A solid game which I have both First & Second editions of.
