Dead Tanks

Iorwerth

Mongoose
When a vehicle is taken out does it stay on the board causing an obstruction? If it does, can another vehicle/tank push it aside?

The reason I ask is that the battlefield I am creating is going to have a one tank wide bridge, the only river crossing that vehicles can use (the infantry have a couple of fords they can cross). I need to know what happens if a tank is taken out and blocks the bridge.

we leave the tanks as a goo burning hunk of metal is always good cover.

also dont forget you can always drive over a dead tank at half speed if its over 1"high

Yeah, if your really dedicated/well-endowed you could model a dead version of ever tank you have and replace those which get destroyed with those...

Or perhaps thats just going a little far...

well I think 15 quid is spending a bit much just for a dead tank :P But I might convert a dead one or two from cheaper toy ones though. Or just do what most people do and add cotton wool smoke and fire to dead ones ;)

We're leaving the destroyed vehicles on the table. Even using GF9 Fire markers and cotton for smoke.

Larry

Well endowed?
Even if your above average, it's never going to pass for a tank.
And if it's got a camo colour scheme, go see a doctor
:)

 That's a good one

Without actual experience I would say that just leave the tank on the table. I think they did that in Mongoose game (see AAR from S&P 41). Just add "fire and smoke" for the effect.

intersting thread this.

like i said earlier we leave the tanks on the table, we also left the shadows on the table aswell, so far not a single technical has ever died !!! darn there luck, but i presume wed leave that on the table as well.

motor bikes would be removed if they existed, so id say as a ruling for play maybe any size 2 or greater target that is killed is not removed from the table but size 1 targets are.

As we armor crewman say, if you get your cannon fouled, see the Doc and get your guntube punched.

Larry

P.S.
For those not savvy in the ways of tank maintenance, a wire borebrush which is ever so slightly larger around than the bore of the tanks main gun is rammed (a process requires the entire 4 man crew in the case of a new barrel) up through the barrel to the breach and back out again. Sometimes more than once.

Well on that line of thought reading my original post, if you have more than one I go get that checked out as well...

That's what we did too for our games between Brassjones and I.

Especially after I blew up his M1A2 with a rocket rolling 10s.

At the Open Day, we popped the turret of our Dead Type 99 and left it in a wreck on the table.

That was with Old Bear running the game btw, so its official.

I am in agreement that any vehicle over size 2 should be left to burn on the table. I will probably base up some Wire wool Smoke and fire onto some 2p coins. Always useful. :)

Keep'em on the board. I lucked out and one of my M1A2 has a tread that's not glued which comes off and makes it look better.

You really enjoyed that didn't you? Well it just taught me not to leave my tanks in the open...ever.
