Darrian history

I realised that something about Darrian history just doesn’t add up.

The current Darrian navy includes several high tech relic starships with advanced weapons (anti-matter torpedoes etc)

These ships are described as being in the 50,000 tonne range. History does not suggest that the Darrians contacted any other races prior to the Maghiz.

So when they built the warships who did they anticipate meeting?

Or did they really run into something…..

Actually the Darrians were contacted by the Solomani
approximately 400 years before the Maghiz, and the
stories the Solomani had to tell about the Imperium
may well have been enough to convince the Darrians
to construct a powerful navy.

Though that wouldn't have been the Third Imperium they were talking about, and the Second was centuries gone when they arrived. The Darrians were contacted by the Solomani, rose to amazing heights, and wiped themselves from space all during the Long Night.
