Ladies and Gentlemen, it gives me immense pleasure to announce that the latest instalment of Darkness Rising: The Breakthrough Project is now available for download free at

In addition I have taken the time to update the original Darkness Rising following the publication of Powers and Principalities – available at the usual link

The two files are quite large – with Breakthrough weighing in at a hefty 21MB and the revised Darkness Rising at around 11MB.

Breakthrough is massively enhanced by a brilliant article by Kickaha on how to create a Third Space Cruiser (which of course is very relevant) and it is a great privilege to include many of his ships – both from the MGP/Ironwind/AOG range and more impressively, scratch built masterpieces – enjoy!

Many people helped in so many ways – from creating (and allowing me to use) stunning artwork, ship ideas and concepts and I hope I have acknowledged you all in the project.

My especially sincere thanks to Greg, Kickaha and the members of the Kettering Games Club for all your help and support.

I hope you enjoy reading (and using) Breakthrough as much as I have enjoyed creating it, however I am also open to suggestions and comments.

It won't be Darkness Rising...but sometime after I finish the Centauri-Orieni War, I think that House Laucine might just find some common ground with a rebuilding Orieni Empire.

Not sure if you're looking for critical commentary but my only thing I would point out is some minor word usage and grammatical things keep it from looking like a proper gaming house publication.

Mostly over usage of the '-' punctuation as a 'pause' in a sentence It gets a little excessive in the first chapter or two.

All in all tho a massive amount of work and very impressive.

A great read! In fact, I'm thinking about including your Orieni in the next phase of my Babylon 5 RPG game. I've been running it for 2 years and we just finished the Shadow war. The galaxy is holding it's breath now in anticipation of the "next big thing" to come along.
