Cult writeup for Lhankor Mhy?

I need to come up with a cult dedicated to a god of knowledge and I just noticed that Lhankor Mhy is mentioned in Magic of Glorantha*. Is the cult of Lhankor Mhy (or any other god of Knowledge) statted up in any of the MRQ Glorantha books?

Come to think of it, I have no idea which dieties have cult writeups in the various Glorantha books. At least writeups similar to the ones in the MRQ rulebook. (Worshippers, cult skills, duties, spells, benefits, etc.) Can someone with the Glorantha books help a brother out?

* It's the only Glorantha purchase I've ever made, BTW. I'm not terribly interested in the world, except in so much that that I can pillage it for my own MRQ campaign.

Yes, it's covered in CoG 1

If you want a detailed writeup including history, reason for continued existence, place in the world, etc, try and get hold of a copy of Cults of Prax from RQ2 - it's covered in much greater detail there, although of course it's Glorantha specific so maybe of less value for a homebrew campaign.

Here's a list of cults from CoG 1:

Argan Argar - Troll surface god
Babeester Gor - earth war goddess
Barntar Orlanthson - farming

You can get Cults of Prax, along with Cults of Terror, and a number of other "Long form" Cult write ups from various sources in Moon Designs "Cult Compendium". It's (mostly) RQ2 Material (I think one of two of the additional cults are RQ3, but the differences are negligible) but this is the best RQ Cults book (It's not the most comprehensive - RQ3's Gods of Glorantha and MRQ's Cults of Glorantha vol 1 & 2 both cover more cults, but don't cover them in the same depth).

The HeroQuest product Storm Tribe also has a long write up of the Lhankor Mhy cult, along with other deities of the Storm Tribe (apart from Orlanth and Ernalda who are in Thunder Rebels).

Try looking here http://www.glorantha.com/library/religions/cult-lhankormhy.html for more information.

All the writeups of cults from Cults of Prax/Terror and probably the Troll Cults have been written up as system-agnostic background here http://www.glorantha.com/library/religions/ and they are very useful, especially to anyone who doesn't have RQ2/3 or HQ material.

For all the people who responded, thank you very much! It was exactly what I was looking for and I'm now the proud owner of Cults of Glorantha vol. 1. I doubt I'll ever play in the world of Glorantha, but I love having pre-written material that I can tweak to aid my games... as compared to having to do the heavy lifting of making everything on my own.

Now to see if I can find any MRQ cult writeups for Lanbril or Erumal... :)

No problem. I'll kludge something up.

BTW, I'm assuming by your post that they didn't make it into CoGv2 either.

Yeah. But there's a big writeup on Trickster and Thief gods on Glorantha.com.

Dear All,

You could also look at Simon Phipp's 'RuneQuest/Hero Wars Cults Conversions' - there is a lot of good material in there as well.

Located at: http://www.soltakss.com in the 'Hero Wars' section.

There's not a lot for Lhankor Mhy, though. Where RQ2/3 cults already exist that document just details new spells. Since Lhankor Mhy was in Cults of Prax and River of Cradles, there wasn't much point duplicating the HeroWars information.

Or at http://www.soltakss.com/hwconv02.html.

I suppose I should add the cults from the newer HeroQuest supplements, but it's quite a slog going through everything.

Lord High Munchkin has very kindly collected all my Hero Wars Conversions into a single PDF document as well (92 pages and counting). If he lets me put it on my website, I'll put a link in here.
