I was shopping around in the store here and did some quick math. Why are 16 ships 75 pounds, 5 30 pounds and singles 10 each? I tend to buy small fleets to start with but @ £10 each that sort of stings.

I am almost tempted to pick up fleet boxes and trade away the ships I do not plan to use.

If it is a matter of scale, I'd be happy to buy lots of 16 provided they are the ships I will use (mainly the smaller ones).

Just curious (and on a budget  )

I believe that the increased cost of blister packing singles and additional labor mandated the high cost. That tends to encourage one to buy squadron or fleet packs as well.

As you said, you can always sell off the minis you don't want. :)

You can always convert them into something else or even turn them into something more scenic, like a debris field from some failed battle. It's pretty and uses what you've got left over.

I forsee lots of DNs sitting unwanted on shelves or going cheap on ebay.

For Fed players who want lots of BCHs they are fine, for the Klingons they will probably be putting all those extra C7s nect to the unwanted C8s.

It depends on what ships you are after, unfortunately the new squadron boxes (reinforcements) also contain DNs. The feds get yet more BCHs which they will probably want, the Rom get a DN and four usable ships, not sure what everyone else gets yet.

Or look at the themed squadron boxes, the Klingon/Orion one gives three smaller Klingon ships and three Orions, or the convoy ones later on.

There look to be lots of choices coming up. I forsee a swapmeet topic here, wanted BDD, offering F5, shyhawk, or orion raider

Maybe some enterprising fellow can market unwanted resin minis as Christmas Tree ornaments for the Star Trek geek in your life? :D

I'm loving this idea, really loving it. Does rely on them switching back to the resin miniatures though; the metal ones would be too heavy and the paint would chip to readily. But I'm seeing a Christmas present/decoration future here. :D

Agree with the Captian (we Gorns should stand together 8) ). Just sold a C8 on Ebay (and was happy too) for around £2 plus postage. With the current (SFB/FC) squadron box set up, Dreads' will become dirt cheap, as there will be too many floating about.

As for wrecks, might do it with a C8/Condor - but a T-Rex, Never, i say Never :!:

You never know they might re-work or bring out variants of the dreadnoughts using the same models and make them more useful and worthwhile as they readdressed some ships in supplements for previous games.

The C7 model is the same size as the D6/D7, and, honestly, is not bad at its current point value.

Bar all else, you could do some interesting painting, filling, shaving, and pretend it's a different edition of D6/D7, it's exactly the same size, just different details.

I've got the Pomeroy Productions decal sheet with the Terran Empire sword through planet device so I'm thinking of one cool evil DN.

Linky? Where is their website?

Pomeroy shut down quite suddenly last year but they did great work. Scoutdad's decals are really top shelf as well but so far, traditional Feds only.
