Hi guys,

Just a quick note to let you know that the two CTA 2e books are now available as PDFs from www.wargamingonline.com

Interesting....

As my books have not yet arrived, the binding quality of the rule book seems to be very poor and i have access to a colour laser I wish i had not bothered ordering the hard backs, i could have bought the pdf's and printed them cheaper myself.

oh dear, oh well never mind, too late now....

The rapid availability of these documents combined with the poor quality of and apparent inacessability to the hardbacks has undercut my FLGS. It's nice to get things cheap and Mongoose is making money in the short term. If, however, my FLGS goes belly up because of this sort of policy, I have no place to play. If I have no place to play, I don't buy games. If I don't buy games....well, you figure it out.

Would it be smarter to wait around until the internet version is corrected of all typos and mistakes... or just buy it now?

Hello.

I'd like to know if the rulebook PDF is in color or black in white. I've heard that the printed rulebook seems like it was laid out in color, but printed in black and white, so I'm hoping that perhaps a color PDF is available, or will be available.

I'd also like to know if the PDF will be updated, with the typos and such that have been pointed out corrected.

Thank you

Hi there,

My supplier had problems getting the books, agreed to cancel the order and i downloaded the pdf's.

Best thing about them?

Well after waiting a month for the books to arrive i had them downloaded less than 2 minutes after paying for them. 10 seconds would have been better but i am a patient man i can wait 2 minutes :)

I honestly am not impressed by the binding i saw on the books. I am printing on plain A4 photocopy paper single sided. It is bulkier than the book , but after being put into a ring binder should be easier to get to the page you want.

I have a good cheap colour laser at home so the job is fairly easy, though it does use up a bit of toner.

Hey Captain, is the rule book in Black and White? And have you noticed the typos that were present in the printed version?

With the exception of the front sheet, which is the equivalent of the hardback cover, yes the entire of the pdf is black and white for the RULES.

The fleet list is in colour.

How thick is the stack (both books or just a single?)

Imperial or metric, I can do the math for the system I use ;)

CCotD'

The fleet book is approx 2cms thick. I actually haven't printed the rules yet, but will be about 2.5cms thick. Please note this single sided printing on quite thick 90gsm paper.

The super cheap rubbish paper you normally get at work will be 80gsm or less.

If you want a reasonably slim ring binder then you will need 2. If you want to put them into one of those massive lever arch files then even printed single side on thick paper you would get them both in one file.

If you have a double sided printer then you can save some paper. I am quite happy with the fleet list printed single sided. I am more tempted to get the rules printed double sided but would have to do that at work as my laser doesn't do double sided and i am not going to feed the sheets in one at a time!!!

didn't know that was what that meant :)

i have found in the past that on my printer if you feed a stack of paper that has already been printed on one side, it sometimes grabs 2 sheets at a time. Never does it on blank paper, but seems to have some problems with stuff already printed on.

Ta for idea

I always find when doing large pdfs, that doing 10 or so pages at a tine is best. It avoids large numbers of already printed double sided pages being ruined. Something I've learned through bitter experience. :)

Well I am a little late on this but still, impressive to be able to get my hands on these now Matt, thanks!

while I was looking forward to the hardbacks I can live with getting them at a price point that allows me to buy better than standard paper, and use PHOTO ink for any of the shiny ships (excessive I know) but nice on the amounts and so SIGN me up!

I have a small fleet I am working on from the 1e days so it will be nice to have to wait no longer to look into getting the new stats.

Good show! and way to stay on the cutting edge, getting tabletop gamers their gaming goodness as quickly as possible!
