Crusade Era EA help

Mongoose
I have a good sized EA third age fleet and was wondering how much I would need to buy to also have a decent crusade era fleet. Here is what I have for 3rd age that can be used in crusade era:

1x warlock
3x Omega
1x Explorer
2x Hyperion
4x Hermes

I am looking for what I would need to have a good 5 pt raid and 5 pt battle level fleet. Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm, some Chronos Frigates will certainly be very helpful. I would also get one each of the Marathon and Apollo as they are both very solid battle PL ships. Some Myrmidons may be useful for low level games too.

If you really want to splash out, you could treat yourself to an Excalibur. ;)

i'd suggest getting the box set...

i mean you'll want chronos, marathons and appolos...

so with the box set you 'll get that plus a hyperion...

the only thing you'd be missing is myrmidons (but i think the figs look bad so you can proxy them with hermes transports!)

5 point Battle:

Points 1 & 2
the kind of big games Crusade era loves. I'd start with the Warlock-class destroyer as a solid flagship; That gives you one big ship of the line capable of taking on pretty much anything in the game with a fair chance of victory, along with a command bonus.

Point 3
You will need some initiative sinks for the Warlock to get the main gun centrelined. 2 assault variant Hyperions are pleasantly tough for skirmish ships and also do double duty as decent troop transports in planetary assault missions. Add in an Explorer-class and you have a beam-tanking scout able to redirect missile salvoes, as well as some extra 'furies.

Point 4
With the scout to tag missile salvoes for you, additional missile racks are a nice idea! The 4 Hermes give you a decent spread of missiles, with space for another 4 patrol choices - Either more Hermes, Some Myrmidons, or some of the excellent Firebolt Torpedo bombers could be used to fill out the numbers.

Point 5
That's a lot of initiative sinks, so a second Heavy laser won't overbalance things too much. An Omega-class destroyer would offer the Warlock some nice heavy backup, as well as a stern laser in case someone gets past you.

That gives you a nice fleet with only a coupl of blisters of fighters or patrol ships.

Delphi's = very useful
Apollo's = Great
Marathon's = Brilliant
Chronos = can't live without them (i have 20 :oops: )

Agreed. The Cruasde era box set actually covers most of what you need and throws in a few extra toys as well.

All you would need to add to that would some Patrol level options of your favourite flavour.
