Crit affects other than impale

Some weapons implale on crits. As far as I know, with my limited number of owned books, that and max damage is the only advantage of crits with weapons. Do other publications give other weapons different crit advantages? Maybe blunt weapons (clubs, maces, etc) cause the unfortunate opponent to lose one action (or one more action if the damage from the crit causes lose of actions.) If so, which books explain these different effects?

The simple answer is, no. There are various house rules floating around but nothing official.

Chaosium's BRP has rules for different kinds of "special success" according to weapon types: if memory serves me well there is:

- impaling (for thrusting weapons and firearms)
- bleeding (for cutting weapons)
- crushing (for blunt weapons)
- knockback (for shields)
- entangling (bolas, whips etc.)

Porting these rules to MRQ should be very easy, given how close the two systems are.

In general, I'd advise MRQ GMs to get a copy of the BRP big book as a source of house rules for MRQ. You can lift entire subsystems from BRP and bring them into your RuneQuest game, with minimal adaptation.

For instance, I have sorta given up with MRQ's clunky combat system and I'm going to port BRP combat wholesale into my RQ games.

Using BRP as source of houserules for MRQ:

I am going the opposite way. I use MRQ as source for houserules for the BRP system.

Yes, it can work both ways pretty well. I'd say I'll do one or the other depending on the setting.
