Creating Worlds

Just working on my new subsector, and thoroughly enjoying it. For me the most enjoyable part of Traveller, and the reason that it has been my favourite for 20 years. This is my first run through using the MGT world creation rules, and I like the 'Space Opera' and 'Hard Sci-Fi' tweaks, though I use them with tweaks of my own.

I'm getting good, detailed worlds, though I must confess, I am also using GURPS Space for extras such as rotation period, moons, density star type and mineral type etc. My rule for this subsector is 'roll it, use it', with no rerolls - and so far it has worked beautifully.

I can't recommend Google or Wikipedia highly-enough when it comes to world creation, but luckily enough I have college qualifications in geography, geology and ancient history, all of which give me plenty of fodder for the creation of worlds and societies!

Anyway, I'll keep delaying the game play while I enjoy the wonderful activity of world creation!

It's being able to create different features of the game, like worlds, that I love. It means you don't need to spend out loads on extras to build you game setting.

Yep, world creation is one of the most fascinating Traveller activities. :D

By the way, I also use GURPS Space 4e for the details.

Yeah totally agree. All the generator systems (char gen, planet gen, native life gen, ship making) are so much fun in and of themselves. There have been many times where I am hanging out with some pals, BSing, waiting for a ride, etc. and we'd make characters to waste time and have fun!
