Coup-de-grace and Fate points

Is there any official ruling or errata governing use of Fate points after сoup-de-grace? The book seems to be unclear whether a character can spend a fate point to be left for dead after being сoup-de-graced.

Any time you would die, you can choose to spend a Fate point to make the save and cheat death.
