Could do with some exciting new Traveller books!

Banded Mongoose
Cant see anything thats come out recently that I want to get. Come on Mongoose, are we getting anything exciting in the near future? I am only intersted in 3rd Imperium, not Star Trek, etc. And I am only interested in Spinward Marches not other sectors.

What about a world builder book? MgT really needs one of those.

And what about some decent adventures?

What about a low tech sourcebook for recreating cowboy/medieval worlds and the like?

Whatever happend to the solo Traveller project?

Why have the S&P magazines stopped?

Look a the print-run history of previous Mongoose RPG system books. You'll see a span of years for each game. Some of the RPGs have an overlap with others in their timespan. Then you have an idea of Mongoose Traveller's endtime. If you like books, start buying them now while they are still in stock, is all I can say.

Hmm I see. Well I have about three books to go and then my set is as 'complete' as I want to see it. I get all my books from Ebay these days - far cheaper than from Mongoose. I did buy a few from Travelling Man and Mongoose directly a while back when I first got interested in MgT (and had lots of money). Then I sold them all on Ebay and went back to CT for a while. And now I am returning to MgT and I have got everything I used to have and a lot more besides - all for a lot less money than I spent the first time via Ebay. But Mongoose have definitely got their moneys worth from me.

I like the way MgT plays - far better around the table than CT. But its just the qulaity of the writing and lack of illustrations that has put me off a bit. If you can ignore that there is a lot of good useable stuff in the books.

I guess I should be looking towards T5 now but I am not entirely sure that will be something I will be getting until for another year or two yet, once all the errata is sorted, and once I see what kind of support it has regarding adventures and the like.

It's going to take me a year to read through what I've got at the moment anyway.

We are no where _near_ Traveller's end time. Not only was the licence ezxtended for another five years, we have already started discussing with Marc what will happen after those five years are done.

There is a long, long furture in front of Traveller...

We have a World Builder book in the works, though it is a long-term project.

Decent adventures? Have a look at the Secrets of the Ancients and (especially) the Pirates of Drinax (free) campaigns.

If you want cowboys, Cowboys vs. Xenomorphs has everything you need to start you off. It is far more than an adventure, it has a lot of source material on the Old West, including equipment, career and a complete town to kick you off with!

Solo Traveller has had some delays, but it is still progressing.

S&P stopped because we cannot afford to give that much material away for free these days (recession and all...).

On top of that, we have Trillion Credit Squadron coming out (next week, hopefully), Tools for Frontier Living is worth a look for _any_ Traveller campaign, not just 2300AD, Droyne are on their way, Deneb and the Solomani Rim have now been detailed, there is a new Special Supplement on the way covering new Vehicle Upgrades, more Minor Alien Races are on the way, we have figured out how to make K'kree cool (that will be a while in coming), the Third Imperium Primer is being talked about...

There is a lot happening on the Traveller front!

Trillion Credit Squadron sounds interesting, but its the first Ive heard of it. Why isnt it on your website?

I like simpler adventures myself dont like the large compex ones - I play Traveller with the kids (I know you design for adults mostly but Ive never found a Traveller group near me yet) so I look for adventures I can modify/get ideas from - there were a few good ones in Spinward Encounters. I would love to see more along the lines of Safari Ship, Marooned, and Across The Bright Face - simple interesting ones that allow the players to struggle with nature rather than complex social issues.

Love to see what the World Builder is all about hiope its along the lines of CT Scout system designer - it would be great if it could incorporate some of the low tech civ design issues I mentioned....

....and regarding 'cowboys' I meant low tech civs as a generic whole rather than specifically Earth based cowboys - I am not intersted in reliving the Earths historical 'wild west' with aliens - but interested in how low tech worlds manage to survive within the high tech 3rd Imperium, in relation to their amber zone and red zone labelling and how that affects Travellers stuck on them or trying to trade with them etc.

Hope these are all for MgT not T5, I cant help thinking T5 will be years away yet from a usuable state.

Anyway thanks for the response, and good luck with Vapnartak - I will be there with the family as its just down the road from me.

Has some nice stuff in there...

I must admit, I'm intrigued to see how this one works out - the original version was good, but reflects a different set of sensibilities to most RPG products nowadays. I'm curious to see how Mongoose stay true to the spirit of the LBB but also adapt it for a modern audience.

:!: :!: :!: :!: :D

Yeah...I'm hoping that Mongoose take the time to do this right. They have extended the rules for designing interstellar colonies and planetside settlements with some of the recent releases in the 2300AD line and it would be great to see these elements incorporated into the core rules. Plus there is so much interesting data coming from the astronomical community about real exoplanets that it would be awesome to see some of it fed back into the world generation system - it's sobering to think that at the time when Traveller was written we only had a single example of what a real star system might be like and now we have hundreds to steal ideas from ;)

Well of course there is a long future ahead for Traveller. It has a vast pack of rabid fans

It is however good to see that there is a long future ahead for Mongoose Traveller.

Keep up the good work and the good books guys (and girls).

PS when I say Traveller I am referring to both Traveller and 2300
PPS when I say keep up the good work I mean produce more books for me
PPPS spelling mistakes in the quoted text fixed free of charge

I did plan to get to Vapnaratak, last time I was there I was in a Dalek Suit....

Alas things have come up and a certain 25000 ton ship to do...
