Cost of Docking Space / Hangar

A basic hull costs Cr 50 000 / dT.

A Docking Space costs Cr 250 000 / dT, Hangar costs Cr 200 000 / dT.

A docking space (steel box?) costs 5 times more than a complete hull. That seems off?

The effect is that the docking space is more expensive than the small craft it houses. That seems off?

A Launch costs MCr 2,4
Docking Space costs MCr 8,25
Full Hangar costs MCr 12

The Docking Space has the harness and holding modules in place that hold a ship in place while docked. Calling it an empty box is shorting the function. The Full Hanger has the same sort of holding system, but is adaptable to allow different ships inside the Hangar to allow maintenance to be done on the parked ship that cannot be done inside a Docking space.

That is how I justify the price to myself. Let alone the existence of an armoured bulkhead airlock door that protects the smaller ship, plus the launching and capturing tech which is not described at all but is included. :)

That does sound rather high. Hangars or docking spaces do have some uniqueness as well as engineering requirements. But if you compare to say what a secure hangar costs today (concrete, fueling, maintenance, etc), it's on the order of a few million per craft, but they also house aircraft that cost in the tens of millions of dollars.

Docking clamps are awesome. For 5 tons and up you can hold an entire ship on the hull. Add in 2 tons for an additional airlock and you can access the ship while clamped. Awesome rate of tonange vs money. Just upsize your Engines to handle the extra volume.
