Converting Fantasy Worlds To Traveller (Strontium Dog)

With the advent of the magic system from Strontium Dog I am considering converting a handful of fantasy worlds/systems (Krynnspace, Realmspace & Shattered Space (aka The Astromundi Cluster)) to Traveller. This will be purely fluff and background crunch at first. Next I'll move on to the more densely populated regional pockets and update core NPCs to the Traveller 'class' system.

I have to admit, that I am really looking forward to getting my hands on Strontium Dog as it blows the doors wide open for new frontiers. Just imaginge how these worlds will react when they find out that they've been untouch by these vast stellar empires around them. Then imagine how the trickle of technology will change them. 8)

All I can say is..............is it October Yet?

Yea - I want this book VERY BADLY!!!!!! To say this will be a riot to run will be an understatement.

It will be one of my favorite RPG books of all time. I'm sure it can be easily adapted too..............!

I've written (handwritten, pen on paper) out a few ideas for magic systems; when Fantasy Traveller gets going I'll submit 'em to S&P.

Some good stuff to incorporate from Dredd as well by the way, though Strontium Dog will surely build on it as well if you look at the entire mechanic of special abilities, you could easily translate that over to add extra "Demon Dogs!" oomph to a fantasy-esque campaign.

In my home setting I've been using a magic system I modeled off of the Psionics system and everything else then becomes structured fiat. So if a dumb person like ME, can come up with something folks are having a good time with, then I'm sure the smart people that are working on Strontium Dog, will deliver gold.

I am not familiar with Strontium Dog comics. What the rpg can bring to the Traveler table rules wise?

What helps fantasy wise is the sorcery, which works a bit like psionics though there are differences.

Not much.

Detailed rules for grotesque mutants, HUGE hand guns, sorcery, weapons that slip people through time and the dimensions. Some great, western-inspired worlds with villains to hunt for bounty...

Seriously, there's a lot of cool stuff in there. But its science fantasy rather than hard SF, so it may or may not fit what you're doing with Traveller.

Hell I've already swiped stuff from Dredd to put in my basic Traveller campaign. Special Abilities for example. So I am sure I will be doing the same thing with S?D, as well as running both Dredd and S/D as themselves as well.

This all may be useful. I've run a few unorthodox adventures with Traveller, and some of those elements might find a way to my game. Notice that I gave up the official Traveller Universe years ago.
