Contemplative Question

A Soldier/Scholar can, GM willing, take the Intuitive Master feat at third level of soldier (I assume in lieu of the Formation Combat ability).

If this option is taken, what happens at soldier 5th level? The Officer ability seems rather unsuited to work with IM (though I can see how it would work - two IMs, one of whom is the Officer allow a third non IM character to use IM, it just seems a bit 'off' given the nature of IM).

Would you just say 'tough, you get no bonus ability'?
Or would you allow a different feat to be taken instead of the Officer ability?

Oooh, we didn't think of that kind of option. A nice idea.

If I might enquire, why 6 points? A scholar gets a mere 2 skill points for foregoing an advanced spell. But I'm guessing it's because they get a healthy dose of skill points anyway.

Because Scholars get 8 base points, and Soldiers get two, so I took the difference. It makes it a little more powerful than a feat (which offers +3 skill points to one skill, or +2 to two skills for a total of +4 points), yet not as powerful, since these points (unlike the feats) cannot raise skills over the level limits.

It seemed fair to me. Others may have different opinions.

Aye, it seems fair enough reasoning to me. I was just curious. We give soldiers 4/level so might tone it down to 4 skill points as a substitute for Officer.

Thanks.
