ConQuest SF (Pacificon)

I'm going to run a game at ConQuest SF this year, if anyone's interested. Nothing real big, just a free-for-all type scenario:

In the dead space between the stars, an ancient derelict has been discovered. Far too large for the rim-runner who found it to tow, rumors of what was left behind have spread across known space. Now, thrill seekers and opportunists from all walks of life are converging, seeking what fortune might be found…

Fleets: Each player has three Fleet Allocation Point at Raid level. Limit of four ships

Pre-Battle Preparation: Up to eight players may take part in this scenario. Fleets do not deploy on the table, instead moving on from each player’s entry point in their first turn. The first player should start from entry point one, the second from entry point two, and so on. This means that, for example, entry points seven and eight will not be used if just six players are playing.

Place a ‘derelict’ ship (in this case a Pshul’shi Convoy Guardian) right in the middle of the table. Eight entry points should be dotted at equal distances around the edge of the table. Take note of how people enter the table – 1 and 2 should be opposite each other, 3 and 4 90 degrees from each of these and opposite each other, etc. Make entry points as fair as possible.

Scenario Rules: Players roll Initiative as normal, and move their fleets in the order of the lowest roll upwards,
re-rolling any ties.

Game Length: Until all remaining players on the table have achieved their victory conditions.

Victory and Defeat: The victory conditions for each fleet is randomized on the table below – players are under no
obligation to let their opponents know what their victory conditions are until the end of the game. They simply
need to let the other players know when they have achieved their objectives. Otherwise, any player can claim
victory simply by having the last ship on the table.

D6 Victory Condition
1 Let none succeed! Destroy the Convoy Guardian at the earliest opportunity.
2 Prove your strength! Personally deliver the killing blow to at least two enemy ships.
3 Take the prize! Move within 8” of the Convoy Guardian and be there at the end of the game.
4 Old enemy! Pick one enemy ship of a Priority Level at least as high as the highest in your own fleet.
This ship must be destroyed.
5 Grab technology! Board and capture at least one enemy ship.
6 Strategic victory! Cripple or Skeleton Crew at least four enemy ships.

I guess running a Pak fleet might not work too well, especially if you get the board and capture an enemy ship victory condition as many of your ships have ZERO boarding parties.

Hmm, true. I'd be open to re-roling Victory Conditions if something like that comes up.

Also, I will have minis available for use, though selection will be somewhat limited (namely Third Age, Crusade, Brakiri, Vree, and mixed League).

"old enemy" seems pretty easy for a swarm fleet.

Wow, my fleet of hermes have to kill what? :)

ps, I won't be there, I've decided as I'm only earning federal minimum wage as of today I couldn't afford to attend.
just kidding, i need to save money for the house so I'm cutting way back on expenses right now...

I cannot attend either, but that is mostly due to the fact that I am bitter about the way that ConQuest is run. Without going into the details, let us just say that I am on personal protest against all ConQuest events. :x

...Now that said, if you host that same event at Kublacon or a different Bay Area game store... ;)

I will look for your name in the convention listing, sounds interisting.

True, which is what the four ship limit is for. Well, that and I'm trying for a fairly fast paced game. Too bad you won't be able to make it, though. You deserve a chance to actually play in an event, instead of running it!

I've been thinking about running something at Kublacon next year; if this isn't a total failure, I probably will. Bay Area game stores are somewhat more problematic, unfortunately, since I live north of Sacramento.

Stryve,
Thank you for the game, sorry to have cut it short, but I was not
in complete control of my dice. I don't see that many 6x6 crits,
so I must enjoy the ones I am given.

Hey, glad to have you! And we got in a good second round, anyway. Still, it is funny how often my Vree get 6-6 crits in demos...
