Would an Easyjet flight from Luton/Stansted be easier though of course never cheaper than the coach?

Unlikely my carcass won't be there this year as Conpulsion clashes with 2 other cons.

What is dreadful weather?

Being from Canada snowing itself is not dreadful unless there is high winds and freezing temperature. I mean like -25C or more. If I can convince the wife maybe we will fly out for a visit.

Never mind, who am I kidding. She will want to go on a cruise or something.

12 hours on a coach each way with at times blizzards conditions wasnt a good experience.

I left Cambridge with glorious sunny weather and when I returned 2 days later there was about a foot of snow - which for Cambridge is deep.
Edinburgh itself had next to nothing for snow the time I was there but bloody freezing and windy.

The real problem is the UK gets significant snow very rarely, so it's not cost-effective to maintain the infrastructure to deal with it.

True, but people shouldn't winge so much on the rare ocassions it does happen.
