Conan with other RPGs

Just to be perverse, last year I used the original Traveller rules to run a low-fantasy game setting more or less on par with Conan. It worked fine for my purposes.

Oh, yeah! Original Traveller - A game so lethal, characters can die during CharGen. LOL

quigs, I'd love to see what you come up with.

I had a lot of fun creating the Hyborian age races for my SW Conan game, which were based off of Mongoose's races...

You ain't kidding. If the player came up with a good backstory about his character's death, I'd give him a "get out of death free" card for the next one... who more often than not was the child of the original character, mentally scarred and ready for vengeance, etc.

Yesterday I finally was able to test a Conan game using Reign, from Greg Stolze.

I was running Rana Mor (Dungeon 86) that I located near Kush.
The game went well, even if the "one roll" characters were a bit weak in the fighting area. I've planned to give them some XPs so they can improve faster in those skills.

It all depends on your gaming style:
If you are a simulationist then RPGs like Rolemaster, RuneQuest, Das Schwarze Auge and other rule heaving systems are the ones you should use.
But if you are a narativist then you should use a rule light system.
If you are a gamist then D&D is the right one.
