Conan MMO

Damn, it _does_ look interesting. ^_^
And if the M / 18+ Rating is effectively enforced and those bloody punks I mentioned above are kept out, it may be a good playing experience, too.
Well, looks like I won't have to decide for at least another 7 months. ;)

I'm... Disappointed with this game.

It was good at first until they loaded it with way too many classes and allowed typical high fantasy magic into Hyborea.

Hell, you can't even model Conan in that game. Here's a man who (Despite the D&D RPG stats people give him, he wasn't a thief, as he never really backstabbed, or pick locks and the like) has been a soldier, a tomb raider and the like. He's worn plate, wielded two handed weapons, two weapons... Climbed towers, snuck into heavily trapped or guarded places...

Which in the Age of Conan game terms means he's been a Guardian, Conquerer and Barbarian. And in some cases in his long career, at the same time.

But what gets my goat the most is the magic. I can't seem to wrap my mind around the fact that there will be 'heroes' with the ability to cast non-self harmful magics. And besides, aren't Hyborean magics supposed to take a long time in casting anyway?

Oh well. I'll take a pass.

Bah, magic stinks. What a pity that they felt out-of-genre high magic to be necessary for commercial success. If they are really doing this, they are making a damn bad call.

i was really excited about the game but the high amount of flashy magic has turned me right off it. oh well still have Warhammer Online which is sticking pretty well with its IP.

There is an In Game movie somewhere on their site and forums showing a Stygian type blasting away at a Pict goon.

Make that what you will.

I had high hopes about Age of Conan, but the magic system turned me off too. Especially the fact that priests seem to get typical magical healing powers always present in fantasy genre. Bah! Gods of Hyboria should only grant corruption and madness, if they give anything at all.
