Conan for Legend = perfect match?

I'd suggest that the magic system from Pendragon 4th edition is worth a look for a swords and rare but powerful sorcery game - magic in Pendragon 4th edition is exhausting, based on ritual and sacred places, and involves long casting times.

Hmm, I start pretty low-powered, which is good. The gm has given me access to 3 spells.
After looking through my books I think I'll take:

- Enthral (Sight): (spellcom) enchants an object so that people who look at it are mesmerised.
- Project(Sight): from the core rulebook

As the last one I'm at odds between:
- Some combat spells, such as Palsy perhaps.. Or damage enhancement (I myself think this spell is waay to strong, the gm will probably think so to), or perhaps tap(strength).
- Mindrape: (Spellcom) renders a target braindead, but the caster recieves memories/skills for the duration of the spell

and in the long run I'm trying to find Grimoires for spells like Bleed Power from necromantic arts, Tap(Youth) etc.

These spells will then be spiced with a good deal of alchemy and other cheap tricks.

How does this sound from a Howardnesque point of view? As mentioned I am more interested in playing a sorcerer fitting the setting, than one that is particularly useful - I'll get by.

Isn't the Spider God's Bride a 'perfect match' for this?

When it gets released...

It's had some good press and looks great. This is the site for the D20 original:

I am going to be a player in a Conan campaign in a few weeks, playing a sorcerer. I'm gonna hide it mostly, also from the rest of the party (at least in the beginning), as I am told they tend to be burned on the stake.

But, can anyone point me to some cool spells? With cool I mean spells that scream "Conan-universe" in their use, not necessarily powered spells.

I've been thinking mostly going with spells for finding/sensing stuff, and then a single low-profile spell that can aid me in combat.

Transform self to snake?

Seriously tho, you might want to double check with the GM to see if he really is okay with a sorc PC.
I'd go with some healing spells and use them while you are on watch at night... then spin some tale about a potion or magic rock. Any other spell like Enhance CON or counterspells / spirit ward. Have no spell at all that can harm a human, this will make it much harder for anyone to justify burnerating you. Remember the little spirit mage/dude that rezzed/cured Conan, he might be a good role model maybe just a lot younger.

You might also want to consider looking at the Summoning magic in the Elric books as this is all about bringing in alien forces to do you bidding :)

The Rune magic might also work as its "different"

re CAs - as a game I am considering I want to be heroic I will likely give most NPCs 1 offensive and 1 defensive CA with only those uncaring about their lives using all their CAs to attack.
