Conan Compendium - Out This Week!

Saw the list. Shocked that only 2 Conan titles made it. :(

Actually it explains TLCW (The Long Cold Wait :) ) a bit. Conan does not sell as good as it should and the whole line needs a boost. I expected both books (Tito and Nahab) to be among stuff that didn't sell well and I thought Stygia and Ruins would be bestsellers. Still, the list shows us how the whole thing works - core books sell great, adventures sell good, supplements are hit and miss. This ensures me that Mongoose made a mistake by not giving us adventure books till the 2ed. arrives :)

Your right of course toothill. I don't have a rpg shop close to me (they have all closed down!) and I like the free shipping from Amazon and I'm trying to spend a $50 credit. As it is, I had to pay $8.95 shipping to get these two products. That kinda blows. :D
Why don't you order from specialized shops like nobleknight.com?

I have neither.

Well - I did my part on '06 -- I bought the core book, the softback, aquilonia, stygia, argos/zingara, shem, ruins, tower of the elephant, Hyboria's fallen, finest, Shadizar, GM Screen, Pirate Isles and the Compendium...

I'm having more fun running two PBEM games and a one-on-one game than with my five-year running D&D campaign.

ENworld had a link to an interesting blog posting on the state of hobby gaming. Conan not breaking more of the top ten of that list is sad, considering the number of 'new' Hyborian pastiche and the reprinting of so many of Howard's stories. Bet the MMORPG goes like gangbusters...

Good show!
I'm glad there are people out there getting this stuff besides me. I was afraid that the line would peter out and go the way of the dodo.
Does anyone have Raiders of the Vilayet or Nahab? Are they worth the cash?

Hi, I have everything they've published. I had planned after New Year's to go over every one of the adventures and create a thread as a critique, or rundown, or place to give some info, or combination of all three, but as I'm still prepping my King Arthur Pendragon campaign I haven't begun this task yet for the Conan line. I hope to soon. Sorry, but though I read Nahab I haven't yet read Reavers of the Vlayet.

The adventure Conan and the Lurking Terror of Nahab is a little different than your typical hack-and-slash adventure. It is largely a mystery, whereas the player party has to figure out what's going on. It is based in a modest city in Corinthia. It has many choices they can make, and doesn't make as many assumptions that they'll do what the author expected them to do (i.e., The Black Stones of Kovag-Re). I can say that if they try to fight toe-to-toe through the adenture, they won't last long, and won't stand a chance against the terror, so hopefully this little response will help you decide. It was fun to read. Supposing I get my small group of interested players to ever start this (as they have 5 games already, it'll be a not-too-often opportunity).

The Lurking Terror of Nahab I did not like at all actually. It has a setup with the PCs as onlookers in a number of scenes, and not particularly involved in the plot at all. A crafty GM can probably change stuff around and get something decent out of it, but from reading it I simply didn't get any motivation to put the work in.

Raiders of the Vilayet is much better, although there were a couple of elements in the plot that didn't really make sense to me. This one could probably be quite fun to run, though.

The best adventures so far, IMHO, are The Tower of the Elephant and Heretics of Tarantia. Great stuff! Oh, and Tales of the Black Kingdom is good as well.

Your worried about the future of the line and hesitate to purchase two of the least expensive items? If its printed, buy it - if we all support the product, they make more! :D

Never heard of them - thanks for the info. I'll check them out. Doesn't help with the $50 burning a hole in my Amazon account though.

I like rpgshop.com. They have some great deals - 5% back on every order. And they had a goodie bag promo that was cool. That was where I ordered Nahab and the Compendium.

FYI -
