Conan Compendium - Out This Week!

Anyone pick this up yet? What's the 4-1-1 on it? Is it black and white interior or full color? Hardback I'm guessing full color but just wondering.

Any info on the adventures? Are they low, mid or high level?

If I wanted to get something from an old Signs and Portents that may not be in the Conan Compendium, how would I locate them? Does Mongoose keep all the old S&P's?

I don't know if they still have all of them, but they do have back issues of the printed copies available.

This thread was derailed like a Jesse James Saturday night special!

Anyone pick this up yet? Love to hear a review or what's the scoop on the articiles and adventures! Yeeehawww! 8)

I went to my local store to pick up a copy today, but after thumbing through a copy put it back. Maybe later, but wasn't impressed today.

Adventures, yes there are several. Articles. I didn't see much. A two page article on Solo vs. Duo play, one of the first releases from Sons of Cimmeria IIRC. New adventure, "The God in the Bowl" is a write up of the Howard story of same name, looked like it was for characters levels 4-6. Other adventures, including at least one that was a sample (headed by something like, "To read the full adventure, see 'Tales of the Black Kingdoms'") There's a piece "The White Hand of Hyperborea" based on those Dark Horse mystics in Hyperborea in a few of the early issues of the comic. As I hated that story line, I never read this article.

Well, I probably need to give it another look, but just didn't go through and pick it up today. If someone else has gotten it and feels like writing, I'd like to read their assessment, and maybe reconsider.

That is a shame since it has nothing to do with that storyline whatsoever.

The Dark Horse storyline wasn't even out when I wrote that article.

That article is based on L. Sprague de Camp and Roy Thomas material, particularly drawing from Witch of the Mists (from Conan of Aquilonia), Legions of the Dead (from Conan the Swordsman), and several issues of Marvel's Conan the Barbarian (NOT Dark Horse... but Marvel).

I repeat - that article has nothing to do with Dark Horse's vision of Hyperborea.

Thanks for listening.

Interesting, since I know very little about Hyperborea, I would want to pick it up to read more on that story.

I liked the Dark Horse story, I must say, but I would love to read Vincemt's work on it which came first. I would use that as canon before anything else. Thanks Vince for all the cool stuff.

Okay, sorry about that, and thanks for clarifying. Maybe it was the people in the store shoving around, I might have gotten jumpy and impatient. Like I wrote, I need to give it another look.

Got mine the other day; only got to skim through it, but it's very nice. So happy that they finally did God in the Bowl.

That is cool. Please post any info on the second adventure when you get a chance. 8)

Finally got around to ordering this book - looking forward to the articles I missed in S & P and the two adventures.

Also ordered "Lurking Terror of Nahab" - one of the best selling Conan products of the year according to Matt's list:

This is the third time I've tried to get Nahab - the other two times from Amazon never worked - kept giving me the old switcharoo on the delivery. Finally just cancelled the sumbitch.

gave up on amazon years ago they also claim alot of mongoose titles the lads have never even published which is clever or really dumb the choice is yours  :D

Your right of course toothill. I don't have a rpg shop close to me (they have all closed down!) and I like the free shipping from Amazon and I'm trying to spend a $50 credit. As it is, I had to pay $8.95 shipping to get these two products. That kinda blows. :D
