Combat Armour

Mongoose
So I'm doing the GM's gf thing and helped my gf make a character for Traveller games when my friends not round. I said I would draw a picture of her Marine character, but she has Combat Armour (thx benefit roll!) and dunno what it looks like.

Anyone post a pic? Also a pic of a Gauss pistol would be a great help :)

This must be the most awesome gauss pic i've seen so far.

rather embarrassingly, this is about right on the combat armour, in my mind at least

sealed suit and tough

Why embarrassingly barnest2?

I concur. Halo ODST armour for the win (call this one equipped with gauss pistol and rifle if you like ;) ):

(A bit big, hope it doesn't choke anybody's band width... )

I did picture first a DeadSpace RIG suit at first, but a Halo suit will probably get a fangirl squee from my gf, so I'm going to mess around with that kind of look.

Funnily enough, as she has a Marine character (she had a combat medic concept and went with the support specialty, her rolls worked well for it), her character is way more armoured and a better marksman than my guy!

But then, I'm a better pilot! :P

Throw any incediary grenade at the guy and his fingers are toast!
OUT OF ACTION!

.

Lol thanks for the comparison :)

Yeah, I'd say the BattleDress is alot like a Space Marine outfit, but I think Im keeping with a Halo/Mass effect suit for the Combat Armour. Since "Its a Trap!" I havent looked a Storm Trooper the same way

Or Seth Green...

All of the pics show too much gap at the joints.

This is an example of how to cover joints:

It depends on what the fabric underlay is covering those joints.

If that cloth looking stuff is kinetic reactive and goes rigid when hit by solid strikes then it is a thinner rigid armour layer than the main plates. With synthetic fabrics above spider silk having higher tensile strength than steel and electro reactive structural hardening you will be far better protected against physical impacts than the tin suit.

Most likely the main threat other than shrapnel/frag and blowing up buildings is going to be energy strikes which you need speed to avoid hence the joints not being covered and heavy plates of energy resistant armour hence the slabs of ceramic/polymer.

With hands, they are very annoying to armour due to the shape and close proximity of the fingers. Most likely you will have a sealed underglove of the same fabric as the rest of the body suit and an over mitten type setup of plates covering to back of the hand and all of the fingers in one go so you can still use your hands normaly.

We always presumed that Combat Armour was similar to that in Mass Effect...

Visually that is my take too for Combat Armor/Battledress, in CT the only difference was a power exoskeleton (and to be quite honest in my crowd while we use MgT's character generation and rules Generally, tech assumptions go back to the source material).
