Classic D20 Monsters

I was wondering if anyone had write-ups for the old classic monsters found in the Monster Manuals of Dungeons and Dragons/D20 readily available for download. If not, is there a conversion guideline somewhere that I missed? In a pinch, I can just do it myself....but I would rather not.

I have converted some. They can be found in my Eberron conversion (link in my signature).

There should be gnolls, dryads, beholder, mindflayer and a host of demons and devils.

There is a book called Classic Fantasy for BRP that covers a lot of monsters. There are sample monsters available from it's forums as well. BRP derives from RQ just like our version of MRQ, so you should be able to use the monsters from this book with some ease.

Seraphim Guard did a cheap PDF for MRQ which had 5 classic fantasy monsters in it. Might wanna check that out on DriveThru/RPGNow.

I see that at http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product_info.php?products_id=29480&it=1&filters=0_0_0_0&manufacturers_id=662

Have you read these iamtim?

The Seraphim Guard stuff was pretty good. Very cheap, as I recall, I think I bought one for less than the price I paid for a sandwich at lunch that day.

Some form of D20 iteration of the monsters can be found via one of the SRDs. The Pathfinder SRD even updates fairly often.

Converting them is going to be an art, not a science. You can, from a D20 base, simply convert over the five stats that exist in both, then figure out a POW based on whether or not the critter needs it for its own purposes, has "Spell Resistance", or some other reason to have something other than a garden variety 3d6.

Armor can be mapped from any "Natural Armor" bonus the D20 version has. Not necessarily 1-to-1 or even a linear relationship...

There are enough examples in RQM to map natural attack forms reasonably well.

Supernatural and Spell-like abilities should probably start from the RQM spell lists, but RQ has a long history of monsters with "w'the heck?" abilities, so be prepared to make stuff up.

I used to run Seraphim Guard back in the day, so yeah. The "plain wrap" line of MRQ supplements was my baby. I was responsible for "5 classic fantasy monsters", "the backstab gang: five ready-to-use NPCs", and "the celestial chorus: 5 angelic entities".

I haven't read the last two in the series, though... "20 Unique Spells" and "Karehschuth the Living Water"; they came after I sold the company.
