Classic and New Books

Hi

I have not played any of the Judge Dredd games yet and have the new books on the way to the store, so I wanted to ask about the compatibility of the old classic 2000 AD books with the new books. Mechanics wise do they work together easily, or need a lot of work to adapt the stats.

If you mean the various rule systems, I’d probably say not very compatible at all. I was brought up on the old Games Workshop version of Judge Dredd RPG, then followed Mongoose’s D20 version that I found far too complicated and then this was superceded by the excellent Traveller version that seemed to fit the bill perfectly! Each system is totally different from the other, but having said that the simplicity of the latter version makes character generation a doddle and if your using an adventure written for one of the other two systems is wouldn’t take long to bring it into line and can easily be adapted for the Traveller version.
