Chickenhawk configurations?

Mage

Mongoose
Well I do not have my MI book at hand, and have several chickenhawks, and am not sure what configuration to arms them with. Are the utility claws worth it? What about the blizzard missiles?

I am not sue what to do, regarding assembling them.

Do a Mix. I like having one with the flamer and one with the claws (because of the Twin .50s)

Or, if you have the time and inclination, use magnets a la the exosuit article in S&P.

I dont think ill be doing magnets, but i will thumb through the MI book again. A mix does sound good though.

The first few I put together I wasn't sure which weapons were supposed to be which... In fact I'm still not. So I just put all most of the stuff on.

It's always been a pet peeve of mine that games like this that have plastic kits with instructions never tell you what each gun represents. Sometimes its hard to tell even with pictures from books, and most people just getting into the games have a hard time figuring it out... it seems like it wouldn't add much cost to have the name of the weapon on the instructions...

Utility claws aren't worth bothering. However, usually (that is, unless faced with extremely dense terrain) twin fifty is more usefull than the flamer, even if just for the range and AA trait.

Bit random i know but was anyone else a bit disappointed with the look of the twin .50's?

They looked different from other .50's in the game and just seemed abit small and unimpressive, more like twin .30's lol.

I own 2 of these, one with claws one with the flamer, useful in a maruarder platoon. Don't remeber them performing amazingly but it's been around a year since i last played.

You have to take the claws for the .50Cals, which is my preferred config.
The Blizzards are almost always worth the point too. Nothing better than dropping one on a horde of bugs as they exit a tunnel.

Hugely disappointed. They look pathetic. The infantry/support weapons are bigger.

They really do look like twin .30's, nice one. :) I never understood why the weapon on the M9 was the same as the twin fifties on the reliants. Maybe so a new weapon didn't have to be created? From their size it seems like the Morita Ape Special would be a better fit on the M9, if not nearly as effective.

Well I love the T50s... and my solution to the wussy look is to consider the mongoose 50s the 6 Gun... and for the T50, I consider it a

'50 Calliber X2' and use a Imperial Guard Auto Cannon... has an awesome effect in my opinion and really gives the impression of a long range weapon... which it is, its like the sniper rifle cannon of doom.

Here is a pic...

Nice conversions Gauntlet. The big autocannon looks really good on the M9. Hmm, I wonder if the "twin .30's" could be something like 3d6 and have an option for a nice long range d10 autocannon on there.

I would love to have a big hulking sniper shot weapon on there...

something like replacing the T50s with a 2D10+2 Piercing 2 Multi Hit... Something really nasty... fairly priced of course...

In BF:Evo there was talk of interchangeable weapons on the Lynx, that would be a cool feature for SST models.

I'm prepping to magnatise the weapons on my Eldar tanks and it got me thinking about doing the same with SST and i think someone had alot of success with theExo's and magnets and....i'm rambling again

What I did waaaaay back was to (yep!) use magnets. I attached a very small bit of sheet metal called a glazing point iirc, used to install window glass. I used it as a sort of "hard point" for weapon options. I then glued a very small super magnet to the backside of the flamer. I preassembled the claws and .50s into a single unit and attached magnets also. It worked out fairly well to represent both configurations.
