Ok, made my first character using the preview.
Jason Crawthorn is an English farmer from near Framlingham, England who grew up as a typical farm kid. He was well liked but not popular during his secondary and further education, where he excelled in academics. He developed a facination with hydroponics in his A-levels and from there entered Suffolk University in their life sciences program with a specialization in sustainable artificial agriculture.
Upon graduation, he followed the family tradition and served a term in the military with the 23 Parachute Engineers. He did well and was awarded the rank of Lance Corporal after graduating basic training. He was sent to attended orbital insertion training, a course teaching orbital mechanics and drop planning to help develop future plans for troop deployment via sub-orbital and orbital means. During his final year in service, he found himself supporting civilian drone operators on a relief mission and was able learn how to operate the drones with help of Clive Ulthorton, the chief technician for UK Primary Remote Operations.
Having served his term, Jason left for the civilian sector and joined Advanced Hydroponics, a research and production company focused on developing advanced, long-term life-support and hydroponic agriculture solutions. Initially serving in the hydroponic support group, his primary job repairing the hydroponic systems already in production. As he developed his talents and reputation as an excellent troubleshooter and for his broad knowledge base, he was promoted and seen as a rising star.
In his 5th year at the company, Jason found himself transferred to primary troubleshooting team for the research department. Much of his job seemed to be recording documents and updating records rather than actual troubleshooting and he soon realized his manager, Sutton Vandergeld, did not think him capable of properly supporting the work they were doing. Annoyed by this betrayal, he set about gathering the many records and reports of the aeroponics research group and studying the design documents for their newest product. He was able to rebuild the design himself and in doing so, resolved a critical design flaw that he was able to report and get credit for. While this has estranged him from his manager, it has given him critical insight into both design and troubleshooting that he has been able to apply to many areas of interest to him.
Jason's abilities to manage and repair life support and compact agricultural systems and his broader troubleshooting talents has brought him to the attention of the space authority.
