Centauri and Crack

While I haven't really played enough of 2nd Edition to say, the Centauri do feel more balanced than before in all honesty. A couple of ships are noticably better or worse than the others but then again that's true of all fleets(for example as a Narn player myself I can't see why I wouldn't choose a G'Vrahn in a War or Armageddon priority engagement and in reverse I can't see why I'd choose a T'Loth...well ever).

never underestimate the power of the T'Loth. They are hugely effective at soaking damage, have a respectable amount of firepower and take ages to kill. You will notice far fewer all stops with a t'loth around, you "may" notice a lot more boarding actions with a t'loth around. It's best use is in higher priority games where it almost has the presence of a battleship. I recently had one soaking fire for 2 rounds from 2 centurions, leaving the var'nics and ka'tocs to do the real fighting. If you ignore a t'loth for too long, it will not die before a game ends ;-)

Well yes, but 2 Ronthans can get you more firepower and nearly the same amount of troops. Its not like a standard Narn fleet has too few troops around. But if someone concentrated on Ka'Tocs a little bit too much, i can see your point for a smack of T'Loth in a fleet ^^.

(In that regard Brakiri are EVIL, Ikortas for 10 troops at skirmish lvl)

Ok I may have exagerated slightly but nearly every drakh ship relies primarily on beams (and frankly in my oppinion a Drakh fleet should be mainly comprised of Light and Heavy Raiders anyway)

Aren't we forgetting the subject that the original poster was enquiring about? The guy needs advice with regards to beating centauri that are being controlled a tactically superior player; not debates on which narn ship is best.

Just a thought.

their have been several pages where the origional poster has seemingly refused to accept that the centauri player may just be a better player and that instead the centauri are broken. In the last page, he has now seemingly accepted that, which is quite noble of him, it's always difficult to accept it might be your style, and not the fleets to blame. Of course we do digress, we always do. It has however been explained what the centauri's achiles heal is, and how ship choices may be used to exploit that ;-) I am hoping the poster will take some coments on board, and hopefully try them next time he plays, although having read this, the opponent will of course also know what we have said, mitigating any advantage such a thread has created!
