Can you use scout re-roll on suicide fighter attacks?

Ahh well ok.......^^ So i still dont know the movie name ^^, but at least i know the gist of the story :D.

And if Harry Lonsdale actually quoted from the book, we need an official ruling, since both quotes actually contradict each other.

Since fighters are classed as ships for most rules, surely you can't treat one as a weapons system too. The only way a fighter can benefit from scout rerolls should be for firing, like other ships. They can't be guided in to weak spots when ramming, that's why the Gaim get the Precise trait when acting as missiles (I think, don't have my book here).

Ohhh the one they never made. I guess thats the reason why i never got any hint.

I checked youtube for the scene that does not exist. Its not bad, except everything that happens after virtual weapon control whatever......

I don't think that it is a change. It was my interpritation of the rules as this situation is not deffined in the rulebook.

Has this been rulesmastered yet?
Like I said page 4 defines weapon system. A suicide fighter is never described as being a weapon system. Therefore no scout redirects. Pretty clear IMO and matches with most people's gut feelings, no need for rulesmasters.
p. 29, Fighter Attacks: "...in effect, all of your flights act as a single ship in the Attack Phase, with each flight being one weapon system"

Of course, suicide fighters attack in the movement phase rather than the attack phase, but it does equate fighter flights to weapon systems. It also supports inq101's assertion that the reroll should apply to only 1 flight per scout.

Once again over-stretching the rule, the rule you refer to specifically covers fighter flights firing THEIR weapon systems at a given target i.e Gatling pulse cannons off a t-bolt, I think the majority of sane people here have already come to the conclusion that suicide fighters AREN'T weapon systems and WON'T get a scout re-direct. But for those of you that don't want to accept the majority ruling, I suppose you can always play whatever little green crayon rules you like, in the comfort of your own little corner of the world.

Nice that its been answered in rulesmasters, now this has been done with.

I dont know when throwing around with words came to be commom around here :S

And to top it off, playing the rules sometimes lets you do crazy stuff, a game by a certain other company allowed some VERY effective tactics that way, that seemed like cheating but were perfectly legal. I dont want to say MGP is like that, but they have a habit of small mistakes sneaking into books, and sometimes you just dont know if its ontended or not. (drakh aft laser beam anyone?)

Hmmm, well if we are going to get into the realm of making up rules, then why don't we do a "hand of God" rule as well, and defeat the entire point of the game existing in the first place.

Anyway, like you quite correctly said, the rule has been officially answered in rulesmasters, so I suppose there is no longer a need to post on this thread.
