Can Someone Please Explain "Hull Severity"

You get a critical hit of the "Hull" type. As usual that means that the Severity is increased by one.

Example: You have no previous crits. You suffer a crit type "Cargo" Severity 5. As an additional effect you also suffer a crit type "Hull" Severity 1.

Does that make sense?

Can you site the page in the rules for this please?

So if the ship received another critical with a hull severity +1 than it would also receive a Hull Critical of severity 2?

No specific rule, I'm afraid. I do not know how else I could interpret the "Critical Hit Effects" table.
If a spacecraft has already sustained a critical hit to a location that receives another, use the Severity of the new critical hit or the original plus one, whichever is higher.
Core, p158.

Yes.
