Brutal Attack question

Would a character with Uncanny dodge suffer the extra damage Brutal attack gives? It works against flat footed characters, and Uncanny dodge doesn't prevent you from being flat footed, it allows you to defend yourself while being flat footed.

Also, was it clarified if you get a single Brutal attack? Or can you take a full attack against as many opponents you caught flat footed in the same round? Or for the matter to a single foe?

i think Vince answered the second question

If a character gains a surprise round, he gets a single action. He can use that to move into his foe, who is denied an attack of opportunity. If his initiative is high enough (higher than his foe), when regular combat starts, his foe may STILL be flat-footed (because he has not acted yet) and, with the full-attack action, the brutal attacker can clobber his foe.

My initial thought was that Brutal Attack + Great Cleave sounds perfect for scything through groups of low-level foes, but the higher HPs of more experienced characters mean the major characters usually won't be killed by the first blow.

Then I remembered that this is CONAN, not D&D, and the lower Massive Damage Threshold makes things a lot more dangerous.

I think maybe Brutal Attack should only apply to the first blow against the first opponent, and if that does kill the poor sucker then (Great) Cleave attack(s) are at normal damage bonus.

This game is already brutal in terms of combat and being able to use this feat whenever a character wants would be overpowered. And combining it with Great Cleave is just harsh. hehe.

Personally I think Vincent is right on the money with this feat. It's dangerous enough when you get to use it once or twice a combat and with the massive damage rules it can be plain deadly at higher levels.

Here's to rolling high Initiative!

My 2 cents.

Brutal Attack + Great Cleave!!!
Wooohoo…just got my next NPC to throw at the guys!!!

As people have pointed out this is Conan, not D&D, all the PCs should be over the top heroes. That being said, why not allow it brutal attack when a foe is denied his defense. Sure the PC will wack the guy, but this is conan afterall, there are planty more guys to wack where that one came from.

On a side note, I don't use the massive damage rule, I prefer my PCs to be a bit over the top cinamatic. Everyone is having fun, so it works.

Also since the PCs are over the top, the Main NPC Villians are also over the top.
