Breaching pod troops

I know that if you buy wings of breaching pods, they are supplied with their own troops.

I know that if you swap your fighters out for breaching pods, you have to populate them with troops from your ship.

But what about breaching pods that is supplied on a ship (for example Secundus or Sleekbird)? Do you have to use troops fom the ship when you launch them, or do they come ready populated?

How about breaching pods retrieved by a Fleet Carrier?

Do they still have their troops aboard (if so I'd guess the ship would have its troops go up by one?)

Thanks Bry.

I don't think an unmanned breaching pod would really do anything except drift!

why? i doubt the troops pilot it, its probably piloted by a limited computer intelligence.

Why do you think pods are piloted by an AI? No where else in the universe in any of the younger races do we see that...

I've always seen them as pure assault craft, meaning the soldiers are also trained to pilot it. That, and the no weapons, is why they die to a fighter, the pod pilots don't have the skill needed to avoid enemy fighters.

Wouldn't they be crewed by a pilot? The troops that go on will be more like soldiers. Hence I would rule you could send them out without troops.

I'd say you have to man them with the ships troops. Otherwise if they came with their own you could reverse this and take troops off to increase your ships troops!

Actually, no. Considering the expected lifespan of a breaching marine is roughly 60 seconds, it is a one-way trip. No one gets on that pod that is not in heavy armour and ready for a helluva fight. The breaching marines themselves are trained to fly the pod or assault shuttle.

Sorry for the random narrative posting... :)
