Bore sight?

Also, If you have enough "initiative sinks" (aka: smaller ships) you can loose initiative and still get a Bore Sight (or several if you are Drazi!)

Since I play Vree, I don't have this issue. Having said that, in my case any crits that cause one to loose a "Random arc" totally screws me. I only have 1 arc on all my ships...Turret!

That however, is the "limiting factor" that Vree players have to deal with (also paper mache hulls....SIGH).

Bore Sight is just the same thing only for more races (EA, Narn, Drazi and others)

There is my 2 cents worth (or pence for our friends from across the pond)

Funny, Drazi have the same issue with single arc ships...

And being vulnerable to a crit type, if you get hit, is a lot less of a restriction than having your enemy pick you targets for you.

There are a number of situations that have been outlined over time that can make it impossible to get ANY bore sighted shots, particularly after the game has run a few turns and ships start to pop.

There are lots of 'poor' me stories in most mini's games, the question you have to ask is how prevalent are the issues, and how evenly distributed are they.

Its funny but when we first started play we mis read the rules and thought that the 4" rule determining distance between ships you can hit in the same shot meant that in practice bore sighted ships could shoot in the same way. ie a 4" arc of fire.

It seemed to fit canon in terms of the times we SEE EA and Narn ships moving their beams. It also limited the field of fire considerably compared to Centauri and Minbari but was still useful in battle. I think the fluff we had was that the Centauri and Minbari simply had better focusing lenses.

We then re read the rules and....

Well lets just say that the EA and Narn players were not happy.
Centauri players like myself were more sanguine with the idea

I can see it tactically as an interesting thing that forces boresighted players to take out all the little ships first, and this tends to work ok for them in a game.

I do wonder if our earlier version might be better as a house rule especially since, without minis coming out, tourneys look like becoming a thing of the past.

There have been discussions before about doing so; I made the rule "Raking Fire" (As or not as an SA) to emulate this as well.

I once managed a B(a) beam split in a Hyperion, managed to get in line with 2 ships in my aft.

And they were only 3" apart, got both with the beam and one with explosion damage off the other one
