Air moble, to me at least, suggests that the Meks would be transportable by air, making it a different option when it comes to deployment for strikes and such. Not everywhere in the world has coastline, and not everywhere can realistically be reached by land from a sea deployment.

Hi, Purkle - chan!

And what do you think about the developments, which were described by the posts above?

Another idea, mentioned before, is a supplement about corporations and mercenary units.....their security and special units, their political aims and their technology (some corporations try to invent their own warmeks in order to be independent from TAK industries, Egide, Volksmecha etc.) could be described.

Perhaps new scenarios about missions, which were ordered by oligarchs and corporations, could be added.

The article about the Nukie Browns could be used as an example (story, philosophy, characters, new meks, vehicles and armour)

Nice greetings from Austria! :P

Some of them sound good, including the corp book idea. Though I thik it would be best done as a collection of books that detail the corps that work for a specific faction, rather than break them down and do a corp a book.

Though, in the end, it all comes down to what the guys at Mongoose think would be best for their product line.

Gotterfunke, we do hear you, I promise. You;ve got some good ideas, and I think you'll be seeing some of those ideas implimented in future articles and supplimentsa, depending on the bredth of our production line. :)

Hi, Team Mongoose!

According to "Which warmek? " magazine March 2089, a Taipei Trade show is taking place....I`like the idea of a trade show, because this meeting of the most successul arms trader could be used to start a new scenario.

In order to push their products the warmek industry started to build up something like the Formula 1 was in the days before the Armageddon war started...... In a big arena new prototypes or meks with new weapons will have the chance to show their potential. Costumers will be entertained watching battles in the arena and....they will get some useful informations about the new prototypes.

On the one hand there will be a pilot ranking - and at the end of the year a champion will be crowned. On the other hand there will be a constructor ranking......so there will be a natural arms race - every war mek industry tries to win this race, because this would increase prestige and money.

At the end of every season every pilot, who could not finish the year...would be honoured! Their relatives will get a medal and some money in order to forget their sorrow....... :P

Hi, Team Mongoose!

I`ve posted this idea today, but in a different way....what do you think about introducing anti grav tanks in the Armageddon 2089 RPG. This new war machines could become a new counterpart to the warmek. Most countries and corporations will relay on their warmek - programs, but there exsits some important people in several countries, who are convinced that anti grav tanks will be a nice addition to their warmek fleet....f.e. in the desert they will be very fast.

There could be a rivalry between warmeks and anti - grav tanks , like the fight between paddle steamers and ships with screws in the 19. century. Both types of warmachines could be tested in the Armageddon Arena...

I hope you can use this idea..... :P

Hi, Team Mongoose!

Do you plan to publish a "Which warmek" - magazine (perhaps 1 or 2 magazines per year)! I like the idea of a magazine about warmeks, which looks like a car magazine.....! Perhaps it would be the ideal way to publish new weapons, prototypes, Armageddon Arena results and the reports written by warmek-testers!

Have a nice day! :P

Great ideas, Gotterfunke!

The problem with anti-grav tanks lies in their level of technology. While they are a wonderful concept, the tech base required to generate anti-gravity is light years beyond what we have hypothesized would be available in 2089. That kind of scientific application would suggest a power level for devices of warfare that would utterly change the face of armed conflict. Still, it's nifty, and if you want to play with it, be our guest... :)

As for Which WarMek? magazine, it does exist as a special section in the new Signs and Portents periodical. Pick up a copy and check it out sometime.

Keep those concepts coming,

During playtesting the designer stated the game was to be Near Future Hard Sci-Fi. Only fusion power plants, (effective) Laser weapons and the Warmech are beyond present day technology.

I doubt you will see Anti-Grav technology or Flight Capable WarMechs in the standard game setting. This does not mean another company will not make expansions with a more futuristic technology, For example the Upgrades: Armour book advertised in S&P #1.

Hi, everybody!

I`ve recommended S&P in a local store in Vienna, but I did not recieve issue 1/2/3 until now.....so I did not know, that there exists a "Which warmek?" section....., but I`m very curious to see S&P!!

Have a nice day! :P

Hi, Team Mongoose!

My last question to anti grav tanks: (I hope so! :P )

I think that anti grav tanks would be a nice setting for a CORE - book.....something like Armageddon 40.089. The Armageddon war is history - some fractions we know from the "old war" , some fractions are new (gildes, sects, cooperations,rebels....space -boat people etc.)

What do you think about this?

Have a nice night!

Speaking of which, has anyone seen any further information on this book? I've sort of given up trying to find out anything about it from the MEG site.

As for the grav tanks/A40089 (or whatever it was). You don't need an entirely new game for this. You don't even need an official book. If you're the GM, you just decide how its going to work and go with it from there. If you're a player, then you have to persuade your GM, which is probably going to be easier than getting Mongoose to publish a setting thirty odd thousand years in the future.

I'd settle for the original bit since this is the first I've heard of it. Surely MEG would at least have that somewhere, this is a product they're trying to sell after all.

There was a preview of it in S&P1, along with a bit saying that it was 'out this month' or words to that effect. But there was nothing on MEG's site, other than a small section that had a pic of the A2089 cover and a brief blurb about the game.

Would you be willing to post the preview somewhere?

Not really, I'm afraid. Firstly, because I'm not sure how legit it would be, and secondly because I lack a scanner. But S&P1 is worth getting, if you can, as there's other useful things in it.

Hi, Team Mongoose!

Is there anybody out there in the net, who can give us some informations about this mysterious Upgrade: Armour, written or not written by MEG.

I`ve just read that MEG tries to publish a supplement for A:2089 this year...but what, when, where, why......etc. ? :P

Have a nice night :P

Well, Matt, you asked .... :)

As has already been suggested, more various regional sourcebooks, and the corp book.

I'd also like to see an expansion into space. I'm a MechWarrior fan, and I definately like the colonization idea get used more. From what I see, the technology for further space travel can be introduced, without even so much as a ding in the core system. The equivalent of a warp drive cannot be fitted onto anything short of a full sized spaceship.

Dropships can also be utilized/expanded on. Kintares IV anyone?

In my observations of A2089, I see definate similarities to the storyline of the Battletech universe, when the WarMek technology first came about, how it caught on, and how it evolved. When comparing to the BT storyline, we're in at the beginning of it all, unlike in BT where we get to start out a thousand years after this technology began to come about.

Unlke BT, A2089 has its initial warfare ON 'Terra' (Earth).
By adding the advanced colonization of other planets, we expand our warfare outward, with more battlefields than we can shake a stick at.
Different planets offer a whole plethora of different situations. Perhaps a desert planet, with extreme heat, where a Mek that worked well in Earth's desert climate, simply overheats alot without severe modification. Might our teams scientists have to come up with a new cooling system? New alloy for heat sinks? I bet that alloy would be moreso available on distant worlds.....

Corporations could easily fund a Merc group to assist with colonization. Other corporations could fund groups to STOP them.

I see an unlimited potential, for scenarios. And an ever expanding product line for Mongoose. Which is fine by me.

While not going full into deep space colonisation, High Frontier describes the beginning of the deep space race in the world of Armageddon, including the different national and corporate interests in space and the solar system and, since the aerospace vehicle creation rules are fully compatible with the core rulebook's mek creation chapter, some of the technology intended for space use -could- be fit into a WarMek with some tweaking.

So your Comms mek has a Quantum Processor... want to have a Quantum -Communicator-? ;)

Hi, Team Mongoose!

You asked what we want to be published next year.....and Adlon mentioned Classic Battle Tech.....!

I loved Battle Tech, too and their most sucessful sourcebooks are their technical read outs. For nearly every decade there exists such a supplement.....containing Mechs, tanks, hovers, Proto mechs...etc - showing the progress of technology.

I think that TRO`s for the A 2089 universe would be more than great - simply fantastic. At the moment it`s important to settle all the rules, to correct some mistakes and introduce new weapons (like power armours). But after this step something should be done to increase the atmosphere of the A 2089 universe because warmeks, power armours, tanks hovers, walkers etc are the main characters of this RPG. (Just changing some stats is not enough for me and...... reducing a RPG to rules and stats will kill the atmosphere)

So what I suggest is a TRO for the A 2089 with warmeks, power armours, tanks etc. for a certain period. Famous fights and pilots should be described....advantages and disadvantages of a warmek, power armour etc. should be mentioned and last but not least...who uses them (army, mercenary group,....)

I`m sure there are several Classic Battle Tech fans out there, who are searching for a new mech - oriented game.....and these are future consumers of A: 2089 RPG.

So have a nice day! :P
