Blood of Orlanth...?

Two questions about BoO which I just got for xmas:

1) At the end of the Heroquest, it says on page 111 that the supernatural benefits of the Heroquest are listed in the Blood of Orlanth bar on the right.

However, there is nothing listed as far as I can see. What advantage to characters who go through the HQ get?

Also, what happens if the PCs try to keep Orlanth's blood for themselves/drink it?

2) Several of the characters have 'Blessed' weapons in the NPC section. What does this quality mean?

Ok, so I quess that was 3 questions... ;-)

I don't have the book in front of me, so I could be mistaken, or making things up.......

I seem to remember that the heros effectually get access to a divine magic spell.

When they pray at a BoO shrine, they gain a hero point that can be used to downgrade a major wound to a minor wound. If the hero point is not used within a specified amount of time, it goes away.

The magical benefits are for the characters' tribes/nations, not themselves. Successfully completing the quest benefits your community (a resurgence of Orlanthi traditionalism, a backdoor into the Orlanth myths, Telektios becomes a dragon). If you want, you could give the characters themselves supernatural benefits - I'd give Orlanthi characters a 'get out of death free card' where they supernatually recover the next time they nearly die, God Learners the ability to enter myths inaccessible to normal HeroQuests, and EWF characters a bonus when fighting Old Way Traditionalists.

Armour-blessing and weapon-blessing are in the RQ companion. Armour-Blessing gives extra AP, Weapon-Blessing a bonus to attack. These are already figured into the NPC stats.

As for drinking the Blood yourself, I suspect it would depend on how you did it. Do it reverently, and you might be hiding the essence of Orlanth from his enemies. Do it when you're trying to acquire power, and you're on the fast track to vampirism.
