Binding on 2nd Ed Rulebook

Anyone else have a problem with the book itself? My book has the pages bound sort of funny so that when you open it they sort of crinkle in the middle and it wont open flat properly. It's not a really massive issue but it's kind of annoying and frankly very poor quality for a £15 book.

Is this a known issue with some of the books and if so are Mongoose offering replacements?

(only just noticed this as I hadnt actually really looked at the rulebook till today, been busily reading through the fleett book :P)

seena few books with rips on the binding, doesn't look too strong, but then I guess mongoose are still learning the ole printing trade.. just wish they would learna bit quicker :-)

Or preferably, before sending them to paying customers!

yeah, but I haven't paid anything, the shop had sold out!! I suppose in hindsight i should have reserved copies!

I popped into both the gaming stores in the city trying to pick up a copy of the book yesterday. The Fleet Book is beautiful - well bound, full colour, opens easily and is a really nice piece of print.

Sadly, in one shop the only copy of the rules they had received were unsaleable, with the pages nigh on sealed to half way across. It seemed as though too much glue had been used, as there was ribbing right across the print.

In the other shop, I was unable to open either copy all the way - the last two centimetres were very tight, and to have opened the pages properly would have broken the spine.

Unsurprisingly, I came away disappointed and without a copy of the rules. I'm hoping these may have been isolated incidents, but the two shops use different suppliers.

I have the exact same issue with my rulebook, received last night. However, my fleet book does not share this flaw. (Go figure.)

I will be contacting Mongoose about a replacement, as I agree that a £15 ($25 US) book should not have this type of problem.

Just got my fleet books and rulebook/fleetbook for the club - very happy at present :D Can't see any problems yet! :D

Wait a minute - there are Narn on the fornt of the fleet book

ARAGAGHH get them off - what happened to the Vorlons and Shadows fighting.

Bloody Narn get everywhere they do! :)

All of the ones we've had in so far appear to be ok, certainly a lot stronger than the earlier ones and we are onto our 3rd batch so so far, so good.

Well I'll be contacting Mongoose about the possibility of a replacement as I really would like to be able to open the pages properly without them crinkling from bad binding!

The Fleet book I should emphasise, seems fine though.

Got my books today, the fleet book is fine, the rule book is a right mess and will be going back for a replacement!

Matt how do we go about getting replacements? Through the retailer or through Mongoose direct?

It seems that 90% of people, got the "first 50" books!!!

Those who didn't wouldn't be raising it as an issue. . .

In the past our books have used two methods of hinging, illustrated by those who have early copies of the rulebook and the Fleet Lists. We now use the method of hinging in the Fleet Lists on _all_ our books, and made the switch after the first run of rulebooks.

As always, our guarantee backs up all your purchases - drop me a line at msprange@mongoosepublishing.com if unsatisfied, and we'll get a new copy out to you ASAP!

mine is exactly the same as Locutus's but i'm not really that bothered as long as it doesn't fall apart i'm cool with it.

it also shows that i got one of the first and that makes me a bigger fanboy than everyone else!!

my fleet book is perfect! 8)

Just got my books from Forbidden Planet in Newcastle. I would agree that the binding seem a bit tighter than Armageddon or Sky Full of Stars but it does not spoil my enjoyment of them.

And why is the Nemesis a Psi Corps ship ionwstead of Earth Alliance? I've got two for my Earth fleet - so I guess I could say they were on detachment and helping out.
