Bill's built from the ground up Navy for your perusal

Mongoose
I'm building a new Navy from the ground up, and I wanted to post it for your entertainment. If you have any ideas as to things I've missed, feel free to speak up.

Each ship class is listed, and a link will take you to the PDF of it's stats sheet. If there is no link, then it's not posted yet.

Ships:

Corvette 5000 tons http://travellerdocs.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/5000-ton-corvette-new-navy.pdf

Frigate, 10,000 tons http://travellerdocs.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/10000_ton_frigate_new_navy2.pdf

Destroyer, 20,000 tons http://travellerdocs.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/20000-ton-destroyer-new-navy.pdf

Light Cruiser, 40,000 tons http://travellerdocs.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/40000-ton-light-cruiser-new-navy.pdf

Command Cruiser, 75,000 tons http://travellerdocs.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/75000_ton_command_cruiser_new_navy.pdf

Battlecruiser, 125,000 tons http://travellerdocs.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/125000_ton_battlecruiser_new_navy.pdf

Battleship, 350,000 tons http://travellerdocs.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/350000_ton_battleship_new_navy.pdf

Resupply ship, 1,000,000 tons http://travellerdocs.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/1000000_ton_resupply_ship_new_navy.pdf

Retrieval ship 1,000,000 tons http://travellerdocs.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/1000000_ton_retriever_new_navy.pdf
Used to retrieve ships with battle damage, occasionally used as a Battle-Rider tender as well. Has a stealth hull, stealth jump drive, black globes so it can jump in the outer system and hide.

Battle Rider, Small, 5000 tons http://travellerdocs.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/5000_ton_battle_rider_small_new_navy.pdf

Battle Rider, Medium, 20,000 tons http://travellerdocs.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/20000_ton_battle_rider_medium_new_navy.pdf

Troop Transport

All ships are TL15, and are designed to take a lot of damage, with max armor, heavy screens, and redundant systems. All are also capable of self-refuelling, and carry 1 month extra spare parts to enhance ship's endurance.

All ships carry Particle beams as their main armament type (aside from the Spinal Mounts, which are Meson-based). All bays are modular, allowing rapid swap-out in case changes are needed.

No specific enemy, just a generic Navy. Thus the reason for modular weapons bays... :D

I like the idea of Meson guns/Flickers better, but the rules favor Particle beams greatly since other than armor there's no other active defense against them.

Hmm... I'm not seeing any sand-casters, which limits the capabilities of your point defence against laser weapons.

Also, your frigate is bigger than my light cruiser (but that's because i massively limit the size of cap ships in MTU)

I like your retrieval ship. Interesting idea.

Have you got any ideas for an OOB?

Well I figured that by the time you add up 15 armor and 3 more for reflec, it wasn't really needed. :)

I haven't thought about an OOB yet, since I don't have an economy.

Yes, the Retrieval ship was something that occurred to me one day when I thought about what does the aftermath of a major battle look like? Even if you win, you may have disabled ships that can't jump to a repair yard. And if you are losing, it might be possible to dock some damaged ships and leave with them instead of letting the enemy destroy or capture them.

Of course they do make handy carriers for 20,000ton Battleriders (x25).
