BFE Transport Options and Units when building an army?

Hello,
My friends and I are getting into BFE and we had some questions about transports bought from the units list. My question I wanted to ask is, are you able to buy options for that transport? Example would be the British warrior. If I buy a warrior from the options listed under the unit's options, can I buy the Warrior 2000 upgrade from its unit listing? The next question I had is when said transport is bought for the unit, does it count as an addition asset or is it now just part of the unit and whatever that unit counts as?

this is how I would play it.

It is part of the troop assets but must come on at the same time as the unit it is with but counts as a separate unit for victory points.

There is nothing saying you cannot give it upgrades if selecting it for your unit but it is not really in the spirit of the setting mind.
