BF:EVO Basic Rules Discussion

Makes sense if you think about it, especially when you consider that the MEA and PLA are both well equipped to give the Abrams some considerable grief. Without the Infantry to back it up, a fighting withdrawal makes sense in my mind.

A few questions from a proxy game tonight:
1. Is fire simultaneous? e.g. Do you get reaction shots if you are killed. We voted no, but wanted confirmation because it wouldn't make sense to take any non-shoot as a reaction after dead.

2. The rules say all models in a Unit must do the same action. To "Ready" SAWs or other bipod weapons, do you really have to waste a turn for the rest of the unit? Do they at least get an "aim" bonus of some sort for standing around doing nothing?

3. Does splitting into fire teams cost a ready action or is it simply declared? At what point do fire teams have to be declared or are they automatically in place?

4. 10" reaction - Does this occur every round your enemy moves while within 10" or just the first round they move within 10"?

5. Is there a limit or declaration needed on tank turrets or are they assumed 360 as needed. e.g. Can the tank shoot in one facing, but react in another?

This is just from reading the rules. I dont work for Mongoose or nuffin'

Im pretty sure reactions are taken after the "trigger" action has been completed.

It seems they stand around and polish their guns. As a houserule, I'd let them move 2 inches or something, to maximize cover.

4. 10" reaction - Does this occur every round your enemy moves while within 10" or just the first round they move within 10"?
Maybe SST players can pitch in, but it appeared from reading it, that any action occuring within 10 " serves as a trigger

No, fire is not simultaneous. If you are killed, then you do not get to react.

In the current SST rules, the rest of the unit does "waste a turn", but when they fire there is an aim bonus. They can re-roll any damage dice. I don't know if the same applies for BF:Evo, but it would make sense. The rest of the fire team keeps their eyes peeled looking for trouble while the SAW trooper gets set up.

It is simply declared at the beginning of the game or at the beginning of the game; no Ready action required.

When any enemy model/unit ends an action within 10" of the unit or the unit is shot at, the unit has the option of reacting. Remember that if you choose to Shoot, it must be directed at the enemy that prompted the reaction and that each unit only gets one reaction per turn.

There is nothing in the basic rules that say there is any declaration needed for tank turrets. There are some weapons that must be fired together though. For example, the chain gun and L55 may fire in the same Shoot action, but they must use the same Fire Zone. The GPMG on the other hand can fire during the same Shoot action as the other two, but it can create it's own fire zone.

Thanks dyssnowman. Looks like we guessed right on everything. We talked about giving a +1 or 2 to the "aim" roll, but skipped it until we found out something more official. Personally, I like the bonus added to hit over the chance to reroll because it gives you better odds of over coming enemy cover and actually reflects "aiming".

Just to make sure that I am clear, you choose which dice you want to re-roll rather than being forced to re-roll all of them. While I can understand prefering a bonus, just using the re-roll can make a huge difference.

in my experiance rerolling misses makes an huge difference in your odds.

roll 10 D6 looking for 4+ normaly you will have 5 successes (50%) reroll the 5 misses and you gain 2-3 more successes. giveing an average success of 75% :)

math i learned playing warmaster...
